Got myself a nice new Blaupunkt CD/MP3 head unit. (have a mate who works for the group and can get all Blaupunkt at big-discount......email me if you interested [:)] )

Anything in particular I need to know for replacement?

S2 currently has std cassette head and 10 speaker option.

Subject to what plug connections are on the back of your existing/new units, you may need an addaptor plug lead - probably available from Chavfords.

Pull out the old one and have a look - you might find that the new one fits dirrectly.

Mik, is this one where you can fit hundreds of MP3 tracks onto one CD and play it in the head? My autochanger is useless in cold weather so I've been thinking of doing away with it

There are different types of Mp3 head units,, some only read CD's which can hold upto 700mb of data, e.g. 12 albums of MP3 at 128kbs or 19 at a lower compression rate. However there are some head units which read DVD's which hold up to 4.7 Gb of data thats like 7 normal CD's i'm sure you can do the math on how many albums a DVD can hold in MP3 format. My advise if its worth anything is go for the DVD reader, its alittle slower on reading all the tracks but you get more, the only problem then is to finding a good ripper, this is a piece of software which lives on your computer and transfers your music track's into MP3's ready for burning to a cd or dvd.

I have 3 MP3 players (turbo, lux & M/home)

The 2 Kenwood players do not like cold discs that have been in the vehicle overnight and will not play them until they warm up.

No problems with the Pioneer (that went in the wifes lux because its simple to use)

I use Easy CD Extractor to back up by cd's to mp3, it also links to a database on the net to include all the track info, This is scrolled while playing and very useful as you will not remember so many track numbers.

Hmmm interesting. It is a Kenwood changer in my Turbo that refuses to load most CD's in cold weather, yet my wifes S2 has a Pioneer which will play anything no matter how cold it is.
