New Indicator switch for my 996

Hi Guys,
I have a 2002 996 C4 I have had a problem with the indicator switch so today I have replaced it.
I removed the two screws from the rear of the steering wheel removed the air bag and then unscrewed the centre nut on the steering column, removed the street wheel.
Got access to the indicator assembly and removed it.
I then put the new assembly onto the car and did the process in reverse.
The problem is:
I put the steering wheel back on did up the centre nut and now the horn goes off on its own
Please note that I have not yet put the airbag unit back on does anyone have any ideas
Many thanks
David

Thank you Richard for your help.

I am also having problems with the factory fitted car phone I can hear the caller but they just about hear me and there is lots of buzing on the line.

I have changed the microphone but I still have the same problem.
I have always had the car serviced by Porsche they have said it may need a new PCM1 Unit but the cost is about £2000 plus
Thanks Again
David

The phone in my 2004 Boxster S with PCM2 is just the same - the person on the other end simply can't hear me unless I shout.

I think I may have to buy a new PCM 1 unit I will have to research this problem as I may be able to get the unit fixed ?
David

If you have PCM1 it is worth considering replacing it with an up to date aftermarket double-DIN system.

Yes, I had a standard small knob which was difficult to get hold of, and Mrs H also kept complaining that her fingers couldn't grip it properly. So I made a larger one to fit over the old one, and we are both happy with it now. [;)] [;)]
