Dear All,

Can anyone recommend any decent non-OPC garage(s) for this little lot...

For 1999 2500 boxster...

Gearbox - sticky across the gate (potential rebuild in the offing)
Hood - plastic window split (as usual!)
Suspension - anti-roll linker arms and bushes need replaced
Wheels - Laser alignment required
Paint - stonechips (again as usual), is "Chipsaway" any good?

Thanks in advance.

Iain

William

Dundee, so almost equidistant between Aberdeen and Edinburgh OPCs!

I don't mind travelling though, within reason.

cheers,

Iain

Would recommend Motortune in Shotts. Since moving back to Scotland this is where I have my car looked after, previously it was with 9M so always expect good quality work.

Also if you do use Motortune they will give you a lift to the motorway services and you can jump on the M8 bus into waverley station and get the train home[:D]

Thanks, William.

I'll give them a call.

Anyone else with any recommendations?

PS : Has anyone bought a hood (glass or plastic window) from BAS Int.? Any good?

cheers,

Iain

Just to endorse what William has said above, Peter McAnna at Motortune in Shotts is brilliant. Just rescued my car from a burnt out starter ... fixed in 24 hours with no prior warning.

He's da man!

Hi I took your guys advise and took the boxster to Motortune in Shotts For a Minor Service , absolutly first class , Cant recommend highly enough.
Many thanks Peter for the Great Job

I had used george morrison in glagow for a number of years but have recenlty switched to peter at motortune,,,,,, he has since mot'd my porsche, serviced my shogun and serviced my tuscan,,, and so far so good,, does what hes asked to do, for what he quoted...... will be sticking with motortune,,,
cheers
scott..

When I moved back to Scotland and had to find somewhere to do work on the Porsche I either phoned or visited the limited number of places that can work on the car.

Motortune was by far and away the best. Peter was prepared to talk to you and when I went over was very accomodating, which cannot be said for the rest. I also have had personal dealings with one of the other garages that left a very sour taste and would not go back there.

Welcome Iain[:D]

Another Dundee Porsche? There goes my exclusivity! Seems to be a growing Tayside and Angus Porsche owning population which is rather nice.

Avoid the Dundee Chipsaway franchise...he's abysmal. Dave "invited" him to leave in no uncertain terms after he found him working on my car, wrong colour paint, a paint brush you'd give a 5 year old in an art class, no preparation etc.
Having said that not sure who to recommend in our area, but I do know an excellent painter who may help.

Hope to meet you soon

not keen to go into detail on the forum why i switched,,, e.mail me off line, if you want more info,,

I would say that I have spent somewhere in the reigon of £10k+ with george over the last three years,,, at least £5k on the present 993 in the last couple of year.

george is a really nice chap,,,,, you just need deep pockets,,,,,and patience,,,,,and expect the bill to be twice what he quoted.

Just to add some balance here - I recently got George Morrison to do a clutch replacement on the GT3 - for labour he charged exactly as quoted and did the job in a very tight timescale I gave him. I had a very good experience with him and appreciate that the job done was very thorough, as a few ancillary parts needed to be replaced alongside the clutch - which I am happy to do rather than risk something else going wrong in the not to distant future.
