Hi all,

I am a new member and a proud owner of my first Porsche...a 997 GTS I picked up last weekend

Car is a C2 with the (for me) all important manual gearbox which has the sport shift.

I live in South Bucks having moved out of London last year. Bought the car from OPC Silverstone and have signed up for the Silverstone day on 6th May.

Cheers
David

Hi David

Very nice looking example & hope you enjoy the Porsche experience.

Congratulations - great choice and colour
you may wish to consider giving Chris at Centre Gravity a call to get the car set up to its optimum

I've seen Centre Gravity referred to before...is it worthwhile assuming my car is "average" will it make a significant difference? How much do they charge?

Welcome to 997 ownership and the forum, David. SWMBO has a 997GTS cab[:)]. In answer to the above, yes it will make a significant difference and around £300 inc VAT - and considering the price of the car, well worth every penny (in my opinion, of course!) It will be worth driving yours around a fair bit beforehand though so that you can appreciate the difference a proper geo set up will make to the behaviour of the car. Enjoy.

I would suggest giving them a call and speaking to Jayne or Holly as the cost depends on what is required.

They have some open slots coming up.

Which slot at Silverstone on the 6th? I'll be there in my manual platinum silver 997 GTS in the 11:00 one. Given there are only 95 or so RHD manual 997 GTSes, there can't be too many like ours.

My slot is the 9am one, booked yesterday...that was all that was left. I may well hang around though, never been before and I only live an hour away. There really can't be many other platinum silver cars, white and black seem to be more than 50% of GTS's

If anyone going has the Sharwerks exhaust fitted I would be very interested to hear it.

£300 for Centre Gravity doesn't sound too bad in the context of 911 ownership! I think getting used to the car first is very good advice though. A tad cheaper than the steering wheel I had fitted before I picked the car up. it had been specced with the leather multi function wheel which given my car has the Alcantara interior really didn't look right to me...

Lovely car!

I will be there on the 6th also (in my C4S) so look forward to meeting you. I'm booked on the 9am slot and plan to stick around afterwards to see the 11 o'clock crowd and for a spot of lunch afterwards (which I am told is very good).

Question for those attending Silverstone. I have only done one track day before which was more than ten years ago and I remember taking out track day insurance. Does anyone have any recommendations for 997's ?
