Hello all,

Just picked up my first Porsche, a 981 Boxster S. So far its a very different car from my previous F-type R, but although its largely down on power the handling and manual gearbox are making for a very fun and entertaining drive.

Plan on coming along to some of the Sharnbrook gatherings in the coming weeks/months. Been to quite a few of their events like supercar sunday etc and always enjoy them.

Welcome to the R10 club.

There are lots of things going on and a great membership.

Glad you chose a Porsche for your new car, you will love it!!

Attending the monthly meeting is a good way way of hearing what is happening in the local club and understanding all about the national events.

Last night the club visited Elite body repairs in Northampton. One of our members has a car there having a big repair done. It was fascinating to see their attention to detail and very reassuring. The visit was followed by a great pub meal.

I will not be at the next meeting in March because of a business commitment but please do come along - we are very friendly.

see you soon

Michael

Welcome. Very interested to hear about the f-type comparison. The f-type looks and sounds amazing... is it as good to drive?

Hi Marc981S!

Welcome to the Club and Region 10. I know you have chosen the right brand, and if you can come along to our meetings, you should be able to identify plenty of other opportunities to mix with a great bunch of guys 'n' gals and get out and about in your Porsche.

The next meeting at Sharnbrook is on March 10th from 12.30, and a drive out afterwards is planned. Hope to see you there!

Mark

Thanks for the welcome.

I don't want to say I bought the Boxster as a down grade, but I tend to use my cars as weekend cars and the Jag barely got used. I am considering a change of career/business so felt I should free up some money and be a little bit sensible. If only a little.

My first impressions of the Porsche are very good. It doesn't have the outright performance its 315 bhp against 542bhp, but the difference in weight and size probably makes for a more exciting drive. Certainly for the type of country lane driving I do.

Yes, a big R10 welcome to the Club, Marc.
Looking forward to meeting you with your Porsche at one of our meetings soon.
In the meantime, take a look on the Club website for just a few of the events we’ll be at this year and keep an eye on this forum to keep you up to date... see you soon [:D]

Welcome, another 981 S owner hurrah.

Like others would be interested to learn how you are finding it compared to the jaguar.

Hope to meet you soon at one of the many meets during the year.

Neil

[FONT=calibri"]As someone who is not officially attached to R10 (I live near Stamford, at the extremities of R24 Cambs, R4 Lincs, R8 East Mids and R10) I have to say how impressed I am at your region’s prolific use of communication using the forum . Your enthusiasm, the welcoming of new members and your publication of R10 events comes through loud and clear. Well done. One day, you may have a visitor from Stamford![FONT=verdana, geneva"]

Always room for more [;)]. Great bunch of people ( I only joined last June) already had drives out, pub visits etc and real traction (no pun intended) on more events/meets up this year as seen on the forum discussions.

side a note " Last night the club visited Elite body repairs in Northampton." was this via facebook ?

Good to hear your positive impressions, Jeff. In my view, it’s a great way of communicating straightforwardly which has, up until now, been neglected. After some time of asking, we thankfully have many more newer enthusiastic region members helping to transform regional activity for us all!

As any good Club forum when it works well, it can also be a great source of general Porsche information for the true enthusiast.

We all look forward to seeing you at our meeting very soon - why not come along to the next one on 10 March, if you can make it?
(PS your Carmine Red GTS looks rather nice too [8D] )

Paul

Thanks Paul.
Unfortunately, I can't come on March 10 but will keep checking R10's forum posts for a suitable occasion.
All the best, Jeff
