Just bought a base model Boxster to replace a Macan that I never really bonded with! Guys at Porsche Belfast were excellent as always. Love, love, love the car. Specced thus and was a stock preorder. PJR2HLW7

Hi & Welcome to the Boxster register.
The car looks fabulous and they do so suit white.
I hope you enjoy your car and look forward to seeing you at an event in the future
Regards
Tracy

Thanks Tracy, just read your article in Porsche Post about the 2.0L. Echoes my thoughts entirely that the smaller unit is the sweeter of the two for day to day use...

Welcome DougL
I like you didn't bond with the Macan (mind I've had 3 Boxster S's so it was never going to convert me I suppose!) so after 7 months it was time to change - sure you were on the Macan Owners forum.
We got our 718 from Belfast and they couldn't do enough for us - 6 month old ex sales managers car in Miami blue which IMHO looks stunning - they were brilliant. We flew in and drove the car onto the Belfast to Cairnryan ferry.
Initial thoughts are that it is a step up in quality from my Gen 2 987S (I missed the 981 model) - the styling at the rear is more convincing than the 981 in my opinion - it just looks better. Like you I've gone for the base 718 as we didn't want to put any more money into the car (sold the Macan to a local dealer for a very fair price so a small net gain financially).
This is the first one with PDK (although I've driven a few courtesy cars - 981 Boxster & Cayman) but it also came with sports exhaust system which is great fun. Great spec includes heated seats & steering wheel, PDLS, lane change assist, navigation module, Connect Plus, electric folding mirrors, cruise control.
Driving wise, it wants to change up as soon as possible but stick it in sport and it'll hold onto the gears a bit longer - alternatively, I use the paddles if I want to change manually. The sound isn't unpleasant (OK it does sound a bit Subaru like) - it's just different. Economy is great on a long run - I wasn't in a hurry one day and using motorways and A roads, I actually got just under 41 mpg although that may have been a fluke!
One thing I have noticed is the boot is fractionally smaller than the 987 - not a huge amount but I now have to remove my woods & long irons from the golf bag before I stick the golf clubs in the rear boot! We're off to Honfleur, Normandy in October for 4 nights so that will be a good shakedown before we embark on our 17 night French trip to the French Riviera next June/July before coming back up through Italy & Switzerland then crossing into Alsace for 4 nights then Lille.
Enjoy your car - it looks stunning (my wife actually wanted a white one but there were none to be had - however we're both over the moon with Miami blue)

Yes I was on the Macan forums. I am off to Honfleur and the Riviera too, arrive in Honfleur on the 29th Sept and end up in Villefranche sur Mer and Monaco a few days later, only difference is that I will be on two wheels!

I love, love, love the new Boxster (I did drive a 3.4l Cayman S and the engine was lovely, but the Boxster just floated my boat). The spec from Porsche Belfast was almost what I would have ordered too apart from the £3000 Turbo wheels! The only other car I found that I liked is a 2015 Boxster GTS in Edinburgh, which is still there!

Looks stunning Doug, the 718 is an impressive car - I think you will really enjoy it ??

It get's better as you get more miles on the clock, my 15 mile commute to work (half motorway) started off at about 28 and with almost 12k on the clock is now around 32. In June we went up the M6 (steady 75 or 50 in the road works) to the lake district and arrived at Ambleside having averaged almost 42 to the gallon.

I must have a very heavy right foot. Most of my journeys have been sub 25, normally around 21mpg. Best so far is 27mpg but if the trip is as optimistic as the Macan's was, then I can subtract 3mpg from those figures to get the real ones...
