Hi All!

I am new to this forum as I will be picking up my 04 reg Boxter next week sometime. I have been driving Mercs for the last 5 years and am really excited.

Anyway, this post is just to say hello, but while I'm here, what do you all use to clean the hood. Anything special or the same shampoo you use for the rest of the car.

Cheers.

Welcome to the forum!

I have used Autoglym Cabriolet Roof shampoo occasionally and it does the job but otherwise just water and slight pressure on the hose-pipe is good enough to shift the dust and embedded fluff, particles, etc...

PS: Make sure you pick the Boxster and not the Boxter [;)]

Ooops! Being a man I cannot multitask, and that includes thinking and typing at the same time. Come to think of it, I have trouble walking and breathing at the same time [:D]

Oh, cheers for the roof advice.

Hi there, welcome to the forum. I was always told just to hose down the roof with just a garden low pressure hose and wash it with normal car wash shampoo and a sponge, let it dry naturally.

I had a Boxster for five years and never put anything on the roof other than water, I was warned that detergents breakdown the waterproofing. Of course, you can always have the roof re-treated, but just water seemed to work fine on mine.

PS. It came from Exeter as well.

I am the Green Thing's missus, and I can't wait for him to pick it up - I've test driven it, he hasn't! We decided that we only need one sensible car between us, so I've got the Mercedes diesel estate to put the dogs in, and he's getting the Porsche. As long as I get to drive it now and again there will be no arguements!

Flossy xx

Great choice, i have had my 986 S for 6 months and am over the moon with it!!
Reckon shall need to treat myself to a hard top for the chilly winter months though!!
Well done again, you wont be disappointed

chilly winter months! Where is that then?
Never found the need for a hardtop; my facelift 986S had been through 3 winters without the need and managed several topless (the car) drives in Feb, this year, which I would have regretted if I had the hardtop on... if it is a pre-facelift then consider getting a new roof with heated glass as I think it will cost you less than a hardtop.

Love the pic, it's a facelift so the rear glass, is quality!!

Just fancy the hard top really, suppose its just choice, although i could save the moeny for the 911 deposit!! :)

Thanks for the good wished, chaps. I have been having a great time with it over the weekend. It goes quickly when pushed, but is nice an civilized when required. Had a few breaks in the rain to have the hood down. The handling is brilliant, but I'm sure you all know that already!

I'm looking forward to enjoying it a bit more! [:)]
