Hey all,
New to the club and forum. I am hoping you can help me out with a couple of queries?

1) Filling in my details on my club profile. I would like to know what the date of manufacture is for my car? Annoyingly the bonnet sticker is too faded due to last owner pressure washing it ( see attached) Looking at the 10th number of the VIN on my v5 shows the car is a 2004 but the v5 shows it was 1st registered in October 2003?!!??!

Clearly i am doing something daft?
The VIN number is WP0ZZZ99Z4S64016* (*= I've omitted the last character) As you can see the 10th character is "4"?

2) At a guess would you say the paint code for the car is "LC9z" if it is would this be "Black Magic Pearl Metallic C9Z"? I would like to get some touch-up paint for a small nip on the bonnet, assuming its this https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B00HZ3CVW0/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o08_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Welcome :)

The above may help you. I just used it for mine, and it's a year out, as I was a Nov 2004, but it's saying mines a 2005. However, there is a difference between calendar year and MY (Manufacturing Year) I believe for models. There'll be plenty more people here who can help you though, as I'm new myself to it all.

I've also been looking at paint today, but Ive been reading that Silver is a pain to match and darker colours are much better and easier to get right. Maybe a small tin from your local OPC would be best bet, as they will have all your details from the VIN number correctly.

thanks D911ARK for the link, clearly i have a 2004 car although it was first registered with DVLA in October 2003. As an FYI the HPI check showed everything as ok. weird

Hi, the 10th digit is the Model Year (MY). Normally the MY starts after factory shutdown in August, so 4 will have been built between say late Aug 2003 and Aug 2004. So that fits with first reg date. 986 and 996 normally had a duplicate of the underbonnet sticker stuck in a space for the purpose in the front pages of one of the manuals - I can't remember if it was the Service Manual or the Driver's Manual - might be worth a check to see if that is in better condition, which it should be! Enjoy your car, and get the most out of your club membership - go along to everything you can!

If you request a CoA via the club, that will tell you date of build completion. It's how I know my 968 cba build completion was August 1992 despite first registration being July 1993!

perfect, thanks for all your help. will nip into Chiswick Porsche and do the COA as suggested. thanks again
