Hi all,

Just thought that I would introduce myself. I purchased a new 997 C4S back in June (about a week before the big floods!!). My wife joined me up with PCGB for an Xmas present, so have been a member since Jan.

Had a brief email chat with Rob about the 997 and previous cars, look like we have shared a few experiances!

Used to own a 993 C2 back in 1996, purchased it from Evans Halshaw in Hagley (Shut down now, can anyone remember them?), anyway the 997 seems to have moved things on a little[:)].

Looking forward to meeting some of you at the R13 or 997 Reg meetings / events soon.

Welcome aboard Ian, (I'll let the others ask for the pictures [;)])

I'm assuming the car was OK through the floods []

You may see the thread on the Breakfast meet at Cosford, we will be going back in the warmer (hopefully) weather with a drive afterwards.
Plenty of other events in the planning.

Hi Garry & Dylan,

My silly wife is sat here taking the 'P' because I am sending a reply and she thinks we are all a bunch of sad old men!! I'd lock her in the garage but I wouldn't want to upset the porker!

Yep, the car made it through the floods, unscathed - mainly because I kept it safe in its garage! I have a Touareg for day to day use, which was only purchased two weeks before the 997 but managed extremely well with the excess water, getting through floods up to the headlights (it was pretty bad around here!). Although the porkers fantastic, I don't think it would have made a good submarine!!

Pictures - well they will come honest. I have pic's of just about every other performance car I've owned, but non yet of my new 997.

I think it must be suffering from an identity crisis at the moment, as it is sat in the garage covered up with my old Ferrari F355 cover (its a perfect fit, strangely enough!).

Anyone else an ex Ferrari owner? I went 993 to TVR Griff 500 (don't know why?[:(]) to F355 to F550 to S4 Cab to 997, so kind of full circle. F550 has to be one of the best cars I've ever driven, but kids and two seater cars don't work!!!!!!

The 550 was getting used 3 to 4 times a year, so the cost of ownership was hideous[:(] The 997 was the obvious choice.

Spec wise - Black, with black sports adaptive seats, Aero kit, Fully Lowered (Possibly a mistake as the fron chin spoiler now catches everything! Looks fantastic though), Short Shift, Sat Nav, BOSE, you get the picture. All it need now is more power.

As soon as I have some pic's, I'll get them posted.[:)]

Look forward to seeing you all.

I consider myself still young at 35....sad maybe!!

odd as my wife sometimes says the same... until I point out to her that actually she's been to work and only emailed the office staff !!
Also she recently joined a forum to ask questions about a car she was thinking about buying, she got some great replies and it saved her alot of hassle with the spec...

I gave up worrying about the chin spoiler after the first few grinds on the tarmac with mine,... whilst I don't enjoy it the chin spoiler is easily replaced and less than £200
