Hi everyone

I've just purchased my first Porsche, a 1999 996 C2 Cabriolet. Really enjoying it, though I am feeling a little exposed as there is no bluetooth connection for my phone. Ideally I would like to be able to stream music from my Android phone too.

I've been making some enquiries and it seems the existing ICE setup in my car may make things a little complicated. The car has PCM1 (using the SIM slot isn't going to work for me), 10 speakers and a seperate amblifier and CD changer. Has anyone installed a system such as the Parrot Mki9200 with a similar existing ICE setup? Seems the amplifier may prevent the music being played through all the speakers. Did you need to buy any extra items? How was the quality/usability?

Thanks

Martin

.... or try one of THESE. I bought a couple the other day. £50 reduced to £12.99. I had previously had a PAYG sim card in the slot and forwarded my calls but this is the way forward. The quality is pretty good.

Thanks John. Keen to explore a wired solution that also deals with streaming music if I can.

Anyone else with PCM1 added a Parrot Mki9200 or something similar?

I think you would have to remove the amplifier, and rewire the speakers to the ISO sockets on the PCM1 head unit, in order to use the Parrot. There was talk a while ago that the Dension Gateway Blue might be compatible, using the CD connection. I would drop an email to Dension support and ask the question.

You might also consider removing the PCM and replacing it with a modern double-DIN system, which would give you everything you want, and much more.

Hi there
i have got a 996 turbo that had a pcm 1 fitted and i had a parrot 9200i fitted to that by a parot dealer and it worked perfectly both with the phone and also my ipod i cant remember cost but i had to pay a little bit more for a special connection that the fitter used after talking to parrot technical.
so i guess take it to a authorised deaer and you should not have any problems.
hope this helps
regards mick
i have since removed the pcm and fitted a Kenwood dnx9240bt this is a super bit of kit if a bit pricey but does everything
