Welcome, I see you are from AUS, I have no idea who in AUS specialises in 912's/356's but I am sure there is someone. Just got may car back today from local specialist PRS356 had a few issues to sort out. Most UK 912 owners inc me, hang out on http://www.912register.co.uk/ there are a few on there who really know these cars well. A few are memebrs of the official club like me so both forums are good, also try DDK They are rising in value steadily as the 911 and 356 are getting out of the reach of many pockets, the 912 is having a growing appreciation. 5 years ago a 356 B coupe could be had for £15k but now its £30k!

Thanks Joel. There are a few specialists in Melbourne, although most appear to focus on the newer cars. Being in Australia may prove to be a challenge when looking for parts and accessories. Looks like I will need to source these from overseas - what would we do without the internet. For example, the car has no floor mats and I was looking for some that would fit the 912. Seems they are virtually impossible to get for RHD (in Aus at least). Oh well, one of the joys of owning a classic. Having said that I also have an MGA and it is easier to get parts for it than it was when they were new thanks to Moss Motors and the like.

I have just registered as a forum member having recently purchased a 912 (which happens to be my first Porsche). I have never been interested in Porsche. I went to a local classic dealer last week to test drive a Mini Cooper. Didn't like it, but the 912 sitting two cars down caught my eye. I sat in it and fell in love instantly. Tried to resist but bought it 3 days later (last Tuesday). Have been in hospital ever since so I haven't even picked it up yet! Talk about frustration. This site is a great source of information for someone like me who didn't have a clue about the car they'd just acquired. Keep up the good work.

Try these I went to see them in 2002 in Melborne http://www.porscheclassics.com.au/PorscheClassicsmenu.htm Also take a look at http://www.porscheclubaustralia.com/ Suggest you join a club although look around first http://www.porscheclubaustralia.com/- Track days, Tours, events, meeting other liked minded people - it a great place to be[;)] Enjoy your ownership[:)]

Sorry should have included this which is in your Region http://www.pcv.com.au/porscheclubs/pc_victoria/pc_main.nsf/web/C12570B50054A549C1256F9A0043A803

Parts a readily avail from all over, most cars went to the US so there are many parts over there, over here check out Roger Bray Restoration, Max at Revival cars, PRS356, Andy Prill at Maxted Page and Prill. If you want any work on the engine only take it to someone who knows 356's and or 912's (same engine) assuming your car has the correct engine fitted there are many about with 914 engines and VW engines fitted. Do not take it to a VW shop, it may look at first glance like a VW engine but only at first glance! Infact if you email Andy Prill and Max at Revival I bet you they will know someone over there who really knows what they are doing and can be trusted. Andy races around the world and rebuild engines himself, any car with one of his engines in commands some respect and value.
