Just joined the forum, so thought I should say a quick hello. just bought myself a 944 S2 cabriolet in black [:)] needs a little work around the body and a few mechanical issues etc but all good for the price!!!
will get some pics up soon and will probably be needing some info from you guys along the way of which I look forward to getting to know you all...

cheers
Mark

Hi Mark and welcome, You have come to the right place for information and advice, the guys here are great and full of knowledge sounds like you might have bagged a bit of a bargain, tell us more. Keep an eye on the 944 events thread, plenty going on, where abouts are you? Look forward to meeting up, seeing some pics, Oh, and good colour choice [:D][:D]

Hi Andy and thanks for the welcoming, Yep I think it was a bargain?!? I got it from a guy up in Norfolk who owns a boat yard who I have known for ages, it was sitting for 2 years and he never used it really so we did a deal. anyway I drove it back home and to be honest it felt dangerous over 60mph due the steering?? anyway got it in the garage and the middle steering shaft is worn and one of the front rear wishbone bushes are worn so there is the first 2 jobs!! Also there seems to be a power steering oil leak which I sought of knew about but there is also an oil leak from the engine at the torque tube [&o] which I will have to live with as cant afford to do that just know. a few minor rust issues but that's fine I can deal with them.. so yeah a few jobs but at Ă‚ÂŁ3000 I think its still a good car. Oh and I am from Sellindge in Ashford Kent. will try and get some pictures on soon once I work out how to do it lol.

Hello and welcome, fix and enjoy. loads of advice on here for nowt, zilch, nada. [:D] though opinions can vary [;)]

Is it definitely the rear crank seal and not oil that running down from the back of the cam housing? If you get whiffs of burnt oil in the cabin then Id suspect this.

Will be under the Porsche today so will have a good look at where the oil is coming from?? replacing the centre steering shaft today and then taking a look at the roof as seems very loud when opening and closing?? Oh another thing how do I become a full on member???

You become a 'full on member' by joining PCGB. You are allowed to use this forum for free as a 'guest of the club' (which many of us are, including me), but need to join to become a full member. Details on how to join are here: http://www.porscheclubgb.com/Join/Join_PCGB_Now.aspx If you contact McNulters (pauljmcnulty, although I never knew what the 'J' stands for) then he can help you too. He is the Register Secretary for the 944 register, and hence is la grande fromage around these parts which is why we all call him 'Sir' and doff our caps reverentially whenever he enters the room. * Oli. * - Some or all of that statement may not be entirely true.

Yeah, right :) And welcome to the forum 944 newbie. It is wild and riotous here with blood often shed and many tears and tantrums* * Some, or all of the above may, or may not, be true.

Most people on here have shed blood while working on their 944 at one time or another. I cry with joy every time my S2 eats another 951 for breakfast (I cry often, clearly) and both Simon and Elliot seem to be having a tantrum over on the Breaking-An-S2 thread. I'd therefore say that ALL of your statement is true. Well done! [;)] Oli.

Well blood and tears seem to be true!! blood from whacking my head on an axle stand and tears trying to get my steering shaft back on! it came off without much trouble but had to loosen the rack to get it back in, well its back on now and no free movement anywhere :) got the rear wishbone bushes to do now and in-between that I got to find out why the centre warning light is on with no other warning lights?? Its all good though and I am looking forward to getting out in it and meeting up with some of you guys/girls.

Welcome, I have only been here for a short while having bought my 944 last year, there is a wealth of info and help on the forum. Perhaps meet up at some stage as I'm nearby in Greatstone.

Yeah, does sound like an ABS problem of some kind. Sensors are the bits that commonly go but there are other failure points too. Others will know more .... Oli.

Had a similar issue with mine, turned out the micro switch at the base of the handbrake was breaking up and shorting out .....

Will take a look at the micro switch as well as all the sensors and check the abs relay too I think.

I don't like to post on this forum..... some or all of the above statement may not be true [:D]
