I'm a week into owning my first Porsche, an facelift 52 S (pics below!). Orient red metallic with metropol blue leather, Carerra 18s and PSM. My brother has had a succession of 911's - currently a 993 - and I've ben bitten by the bug.

I've had a succession of Japanese coupes, (CRX, MX3 and finally an MR2 Mk2 Rev5) and am loving the Boxster so far [:)]

Just need some sunshine to fully appreciate it...

Mike . Welcome to the forum and Boxster ownership . I like the colour not many around i have seen a 944 in that colour or very similar. The Boxster is a good car i am on my 3rd so hopefully we will get a good summer to enjoy our cars . Brian

Thanks Brian! Sun popped out briefly this afternoon so I used that as an excuse to get some petrol and have a drive with the roof down. Nearly lost my wind deflector on the way back - popped out of the clip on the passenger side - so I need to get the knack of making sure it's fitted properly. I took it off to be safe, and did notice the difference! Cheers -- Mike

Mike It's great to see another Orient red Boxster on the forum, I thought mine was the only one. Have only ever seen a 996 cab in same colour. I have the nephrite interior. Hope you have the same fun that I have had with mine and maybe get to meet one day. Steve

Hi Steve, glad to know I'm not the only one! Just worked out what the problem is with my wind stop, the passenger side clip has last the little retaining latch...off to scour the net for a replacement now. Cheers -- Mike

Hi Mike. Welcome to the club. With a bit of luck we may get a summer this year?????? so the roof can come off more [:)] Enjoy and may see you about. Phil

Welcome to the forum with such a fab car. Looks very handsome! Despite the notion they are fine weather vehicles only, they are full of surprises. One year, I was on a long journey and caught up in 'out of the blue' severe snow and ice. Other cars including four wheel drives were abandoned in the horrendous weather conditions but the little manual boxster got me safely, albeit , slowly to my destination. It took me along a motorway buried in four inches of snow and up a precipitous slip road to a congested and blocked roundabout covered in ice, followed by narrow curving roads buried in snow and slushy ice. The only thing it could not do was reverse onto the driveway of my destination. Although, I would not willingly want to test the car in those conditions again it has served to impress me that it is a fine vehicle indeed, so enjoy many hours of happy driving!

welcome hope you enjoy some sun soon and get ya top off :) be careful sw20`s have loose rears as you will know however feel your way in with your Boxster and careful in the damp but leagues ahead on handling you WILL LOVE IT I PROMISE!!!!!!

Thanks, already feels much tauter than the MR2. I always remember "slow in - fast out" being good advice when I got the 2, it was a real handful in the wet until I changed the tyres to Toyos as well... Looking forward to some warmer weather so I can fully appreciate that lovely flat six singing away just behind me!

eBay are massively expensive for these clips, got a pair of these from the OPC for about £5 recently.

Your experience Dawn of the capability of the Boxster in snow is nothing like mine. 2 Boxters for a ten year period, the first a 2.5 on 16" rims was reasonable, the 3.2 on 18" rims was the most lethal car ever in my whole life (and i am getting on a bit) My car got stuck if the news reported a single snowflake 50 miles away. The 911 i have now is very good in snow

yep mines blessed in summer with 19"s but doomed in winter on them i consider myself able to cope with most cars creative moves on most surfaces with my years of track racing but when putting in the mix salt, stone chips from grit and not to mention creative driving by other road users my baby sits happily under her cabrio cover in real sub zero temps, but apart from snow and ice your brain is your best friend and a bit of smooth driving i find.
