Just purchased my first Porsche. 2011 987 Boxster S Gen 2. Very impressed so far. What a beautiful piece of engineering. I have driven many cars over the years but this is definitely in a different league. I started out looking at 911's (996) but having found what I thought to be a peach, a PPI bore scoping revealed problems that could have cost from £7-12000 to repair. It put me off so I then started looking at later Gen 2 Boxster's in my budget range. I have found a low mileage car in very good condition. 2 previous owners with a full OPC service history. The first owner was a PCGB member. Been out for my first drive with the top down and what a pleasure. Can't wait for the weather to pick up as I can't bring myself to take it out on the salty roads. I am in Region 29 but will probably end up more aligned with the Sussex guys due to family in their area.
 
I've just bought my first Boxster, a 2001 'S' after selling my 944 a few weeks ago. I'm very impressed with the way it drives, and it sounds beautiful. It had a Hartech full rebuild not too many miles ago which should mean not too many troubles ahead, hopefully! It's currently on axle stands whilst the alloys get refurbished and the webbing on the drivers seat replaced, looking forward to actually getting to know it properly!

I am based in Sussex so may get to meet up sometime at an event

Hi Peter, coincidentally you are in the same position as me a year ago.

I bought my 2011 987.2 2.9 PDK in December 2015 having never even looked at a Porsche before.

They are great fun to drive.

So much so I have been looking out for 2012 981 3.4S's but the step up in price is considerable.

So might put that off for a while.

And after a one year's ownership, I am finding out about the idiosyncrasies of having one.

The latest is a hot/burning rubber smell which is the subject of another thread I have started.

Enjoy your new purchase and here's to some topless sunny days to come.
