Have you seen the ridiculous new MOT form that an 8 year old with photoshop could falsify in 10 minutes.

Looks like we will all have to do pre sale MOT verifications now

Yes they are just a basic printout as you said. The idea is that all details are on computer and can be checked instantly. Makes it cheaper for the authorities as they dont supply certificates and the garage has to pay for ink and paper now.

Must be an extremely recent change, as my MoT certificate issued last month wasn't like that [&:]

DVLA are now issuing new (RED) V5 registration documents, too replace the blue ones!!
in an attempt to reduce fraud. Unless I'm missing something, I'm not convinced!

I prefer red to blue so I'm all in favour...[:)]

Yes me either, I dont get it.
Looks more or less the same but red?
Wonder how much WE paid for someone to do that!.

All that aside if all of the so called fraud prevention measured are done fine but then then people involved couldn't find there way out of a paper bag.
My sisters car was stolen, the Police found it a week later and put it in the pound, they did not tell her or her insurer!.
Eventually she got a phone call "we have your car when are you likely to come and get it" She replied "never I've been paid"???.
Insurance company is now the legal owner"
If it had not sat there for two weeks she wouldn't of got the handsome payout she did I cannot believe her luck.

So if there's incompertants to regulate these measures what's the point?.

.......and it doesn't end there. From August 2012 the MOT itself is being revamped and apparently made tougher so that it falls in line with, yes you guessed, EU regulations. Bloody Brussels again!!

Apparently there will be extra tests on steering, brakes and electrics, so as to reflect 'new technology' that is on modern cars.

Given a friend of mine who now lives in France took their car for MOT and instead of the MOT tester adjusting the headlight dip, simply jacked the car up to ensure the beams shone in the correct position for the test to register a Pass on the computer, one can only wonder why we should bother running an EU regulated MOT in the UK.

Will the tax payer fund yet another design and reprint of MOT certificate for this EU change? Very probably yes!

I was curious about the switch to red forms when my new V5 arrived as it seemed such a costly change for no apparent reason.

I'm sure I read somewhere that it was to do with a number of stolen blank blue V5's that were in circulation (see Total911 article below)

Wonder what colour we'll switch to next once DVLA have mislaid some blank red ones...
