New owner introduction.

Hi all

I have been a member of the Porsche club since 2006 and have owned a 964 C2 coupe since then. Having started to really get into track days this year with a Peugeot 205 GTI (now sold) I wanted something a bit more grownup and less risky/expensive to run than the 964 on track. I have always liked the 944, in fact I almost brought a 1989 2.7 fifteen years ago or so, but struggled to get a decent insurance quote at the time.

I saw this 944 on the RPM technik website and didn't really think much of it. On the off chance I asked to have a look at it and drive when I was collecting my 964 from service. I was really impressed with its condition and handling so decided to give it a go and replace the 205.

I have not really had a chance to drive it that much, however I did the Track and Tour trackday at Bedford Autodrome last Saturday, and ended up racking up over 180 track miles. It proved to be a very nice handling car, very well balanced and relatively comfortable there and back.

I have quite a few plans for it over the winter months, making it a bit lighter being the main aim so no doubt I will be asking lots of questions over the coming weeks.

Brief spec is as follows:

KW v3's
3.5deg neg camber
M030 anti roll bars
Rear cage
Partially stripped interior
Couple seats and harnesses.
Promax chip, uprated air filter and exhaust.
993 16" wheels

Oh and some "club sport" stickers that I had them put on to jazz it up a bit, probably not too everyone's taste at all, but they look quite good with the black wheels.

Couple of pictures from Bedford last weekend.

Thanks for thr welcome.

It's an S2. Certainly not as fast as the 964 in a straight line, but handling wise I am really impressed.

It's taken me ages to work out how to zero the trip, had to resort to the handbook, who'd have thought it was there!

nice car mate. I have just done a similar thing myself.

I hope you dont mind but I was actually looking to buy this exact car circa Nov 2011. I ended up pulling out as I didnt see myself using it much until April so didnt think it was the right time to pull the trigger. Lovely looking car though and negotiated a price of circa £4k for it.......should have bought it haha......but here are some great pics I got of it at the time [:)].......stunning looking imo

Look a really nice car Ross and the RPM boys have a good reputation when it comes to track cars so you should have lots of fun [:D]

Welcome to the fold

Thanks for all the comments guys.

Really looking forward to getting to know the car.

Great to see some pictures from its passed, glad the bonnet stickers have gone.

Looks a great car - quite similar to mine (only yours works..)

If you're running on standard KWv3 springs, it might be worth going stiffer at some point. I found it was much better.

Good luck with the weight loss....I doubt you'll find much more that's cheap (or easy). Is all the soundproofing gone?

I had a good look at your post about your own car, lots of ideas.

I am not sure about the springs, they felt ok, but time will tell. There still is quite a bit of soundproofing left, so that can all go along with sunroof motor. Thinking of a set of gts lights to save a bit more.
