New Owner(ish) and some Tweaks

Well i have been fairly quiet on the forum, but actively following many threads on Porsche ownership - and now I am the very happy owner of MY 04 Midnight Blue Boxster S :)

So first off, thanks to all forum members and the forum itself for existing!

Now that the weather has cleared up it's a daily drive to and from work for me (albeit taking the long route sometimes:) ) and i have to say that for a Marque that took a while for me to appreciate, I am well and truly hooked.

There are a couple of tweaks that i would like to do to the car to get it tip top, and just wanted to run this by you guys/girls:-

First off is the wheels:-
1) Any recommendation for replacement wheel bolts (currently rusting and ugly). I have looked at design911...
2) What glue do you use for cetre wheel caps (the current ones are fading slightly and i would like to replace/spruce up)
3) Any recommendations for wheel refurbishments in the kent area? The facia rims are fine, but when wheel balance weights have been removed / changed, it has ripped the internal surface. 18" 5-spoke carreras btw.

Secondly, Warranty advice
....this was a private sale, but i went with the 111 point inspection at Guildford Porsche (who were excellent) and two things came up, one was catalytic convertor rattling, the other was misting from RMS (whih had previously been replaced under warranty). Both these things did not put me of due to the sale price. Porsche would issue a warranty if the Cat was fixed (RMS did not seem to be an issue)!

I phoned WarrantyWise to double check the RMS situation, and they stated that as it is a pre-existing fault the RMS would not be covered. Two things to point out:-

1) I emphasised that Porsche would cover the RMS and that this was not a problem, but WW would not offer to cover because it was known beforehand.
2) From what i read of WW Terms and conditions, you need to buy the "wear and tear" option to cover your seals...

Anyhow, I had not given any details, so i just wondered what people's experiences were with WW claims, and how anal they are with larger claims and paperwork/evidence. As far as i am aware there is nothing wrong with the car ....

Thanks!

I wouldn't use non-standard bolts. Stainless steel ones have different tightening and ductility characteristics, and I have seen reports of the wrong seating radius on some aftermarket ones - which really ISN'T safe...
Give the existing ones a clean-up and then blow-over with some silver paint -looks fine and is cost effective.

So does that mean any on these are not compatible?:-

Is there a silver paint you recommend?

Thanks Mark

Personally, I'd only trust the genuine Porsche ones - if these really are:

It's worth finding out how much they are from Porsche though. With a club discount you might be surprised.

Or just refurb the old ones for the cost of a can of paint and some time.
