its a private sale.

i got this advice from this forum, i also got the best insurance quote from A-plan of here also.

Hope all goes well Steve.

Good choice for the inspection. I've only heard good reports for Hartech, so you are in good hands. Your doing the right thing having it inspected by a well respected independant. Good luck.

Hi, most "cost effective" insurance for me was from Specialist Car Insurance, they advertise in the Porsche Post.
Regards, Les.

just got back from Hartech, my head is spinning now,
i loved driving it,but hartech found loads of small faults, they said the engine ,gearbox and clutch are all good,
all the faults are quite trivial and wont stop me driving the car ,but would cost £2500 to put right.
nothing wrong that they didnt expect for a 15 year old car.
nothing needs doing straight away.
i have spoke to the seller and he is willing to put all the faults right,i am still keen on the car but the cost of little repairs is frightening.
am sleeping on it and making decision tommorow.
any advice
thanks steve

Steve,

Buy the car. If the previous owner is willing to put everything right then in my eyes the car has no faults.

Enjoy it you only live once.

The simple advice from me Steve is that Hartech were right about it being a 15 year old car. If you buy one at the average price for these cars then you will find stuff needs doing. If you write a list and do things one by one then you can spread the pain. I'm always fixing bits on mine but there is rarely a time that I find that one of these things actually stops me from driving it. If you're prepared to get your hands dirty you'll be amazed how many things you can do yourself.

If you budget on £2,500 a year for servicing, tyres, brakes and repairs you won't go far wrong. This of course does not include the costs of the upgrades you might want to do [8D]

hello again,
i have bought the car , i have left it with the seller to do some of the small jobs and will collect it again on friday,
(he has already done a couple of things ,since i left it with him last night.)
i will drive it round all weekend.and take it back on monday if need be,for him to do more work( if needed.)
i have found parts suppliers for all the parts it needs ,they are cheaper than i expected and i am sure i can do jobs imyself if i want, such as bonnet and boot struts only £5 and £14 each. its not as daunting as i 1st thought.
anyway this arrangement suits me as the roof is slightly frayed and i havent got a cover yet for it .
is there such a thing as a solid roof panel that fits in the targa space ?
i will put pics on soon.
thanks again for advice.
steve
