New owner saying hello.

Just joined the PCGB so thought I would say hi.

Last November I managed at last to buy a Porsche. It's a 2002 996 Carrera 2 manual bought from Mr 911 in Kent, a one owner car with full OPC history and 23,000 miles from new.

I have wanted a Porsche for many years, dad had a 911 2.7 and a 930 when I was a kid. Finally I have managed to scrape the money together to buy one. I am loving it and have now done nearly 4000 miles.

I have owned a variety of cars over the years, some of the stranger ones include a MG ZT-T 260 V8, a Chevy Camaro Z28, Alfa 164s and a 75 and a couple of old Audi Coupe quattros. Various others which I don't dare own up to.

Welcome along, Jules! With that sort of mileage......would it be rude to ask roughly how much it cost you?

Adrian.

Not at all, I paid £19,300 for it with a one year warranty. I looked at a few cars including one in Leeds which was quite a long drive from Sussex.

Wow! I can't believe how the prices have come down. Assuming that the condition is in line with the mileage, I'd say that you've got a bargain there (or maybe that's just wishful thinking as I might be selling soon!![;)])

Thanks!

Prices have certainly come down. I have been looking at cars for sale for ages and decided that now was the right time. The car is immaculate and I figured that if I kept it for a couple of years and sold it with 50,000ish miles then hopefully I would not lose too much. That's my logic anyway.

indeed i got my first porsche a 1999 996 last summer as i was missing my sports bikes but too scared of losing my licence. only wished i joined forum before would have held out for a turbo or older to avoid IMS bearing issues. May be good to get an IMS guardian installed

Yep, good idea to consider a IMS Guardian. Speak to Tony from Wrightune or our resident expert Sir Richard Hamilton.
