Welcome to the mad house. As you will find red is clearly the fastest colour, especially that slightly pink shade I find [:D] Lots of knowledgeable people around to help so don't struggle in silence.

Hi All, thought i would introduce myself! I am Nathan and have just bought a 1985 Guard Red (well a little faded in palce) 944. I ve been looking at a 944 for a few years but family life didnt really allow, until i seen a 944 in my area that the guy needed top get rid off!! due to finacial reason! (his loss, my gain). So the car!! well she starts 1st time and ticks over ok, oil pressure etc seems fine and she drives really well for a car of 25 years old!! was pretty impressed if i am honest. body seems in good condition with only a small rust patch by the ariel!!, the paint needs atention but i expected that! so all in all pretty impressive! the bad points are that the electric window switches arent great, the door locks are a bit stiff so need attention, sunroof seal needs replacing, handbrake needs adjusting and wipers etc need replacing!! its gone for an mot today to see what else needs doing, so fingers crossed it wont be to much, but in away i am looking forward to transforming her to her former glory!!! Hope i can get some assistance and advise from other memebers to get her back to her beautiful self. Thanks for reading

Nath

Hi Nath, welcome to the forum, glad that there is another member of the slightly faded guards red fraternity!

hiya nathan, a warm welcome, what is your 944? lux, turbo,or s1/2? the niggles you stated are all pretty normal and i would like to think nothing to worry about! but red is hard work although looks great when shining! enjoy her, they are amazing cars but very different to "modern" cars, also when was your cambelt last changed? all the best jason p

Hi Jason, Yeah its a 944 lux. Yeah it is a massive diffrence to my other ( modern) cars but i have really enjoyed the little time i spent in her! cam belt was changed i believe about 2000 miles back, but not 100% sure on the exact milage! i have mentioned that to my mate in the garage who are doing any repairs! Thanks for such a warm welcome
