Hi guys, i have attached a picture of one of my rear discs. The other rear disc looks similar and the fronts look normal. Anyway as the title says do i need new pads?

If the outside of the disk looks like that, then I'll wager the inside looks worse. Without seeng the pads it is difficult to say, and the disks might also clean up by skimming. Check out the Technical Articles for "Brake Wear Limits" - it gives you all the dimensions on there.

The look like they need changing, as Richard says the inside surface will be much worse. I changed all mine a few months back and the outside surface of all four looked clean and shiney but showing some wear (lip on the edge) when I took them off I was shocked at the condition of the inside surface both on the front and rear discs.

They are not really that expensive if not using an opc.

Hi there

from the pictures Id say you needed disks and pads to suit.

There not expensive and easily changed.

Id be a little worried though about the amount of weights on your wheels for balance - quite an amount of lead showing.

Have fun matty!

Yes, they look like the right ones. Shop around, as there are often deals around, especially with disk & pad packages. Try Type911, Design911, Berlyn, and Frazerpart, to name but a few.

Last time I changed mine Pagid were offering both pads and discs and were highly recommended.....eurocarparts. I too in the past have looked into skimming the discs, however I found that the discs once worn do not allow for enough tolerance to do this, ie the thickness would be below the minimum legal limit. I have machined some down in the past just for fun.....diamond tipped tool required and a lot of patience.

I followed Richards advice and got the Sebro and Textar. And I couldn't believe how easy it was to replace the discs and pads. Just shows the quality of the engineering.

I bought mine from Eurocarparts, they had a deal on. £217.79 which I thought was reasonable. That included the dampening plates.
