Just thought I would show off my new S2.......

1989 132K Cat C last year - behind drivers door - Leather seats, radio cassette - working cassette! with cd changer , clock - working, nice inside.
Not perfect but solid and belts done!
Swapped the wheels (3kg a corner lighter than the D90s) and the steering wheel to a Momo.
Just the exhaust (too quiet) and the number plate to do - for the time being anyway. Plate on the 2.7 is its old one , just for the pic.

I'm becoming more and more convinced that if you have one 944, you should really have two. It's a bit like having one dog. Great, but two dogs are just so much better than one.

The only fly in my ointment is that my current unemployed house husband status leaves me entirely dependent on the generousity of the joint account and i think Mrs M3 might notice if I hive off sufficient funds for another one. Maybe I will have to consider selling the TVR......

Nice. I happen to think that dark red metallic colour (Garnet Red?) is one of the prettiest colours for a 944, and goes well with Linen interior.

Are those wheels really 3kg a corner lighter than D90's? I'm surprised.

Oli.

Thanks guys

The white one will be going, I only have room for one!

The official colour is Velvet Red, which does and has faded in places and other places have been resprayed!

I like the Gullies and swapping them over (it came with D90s) from the 2.7 the weight difference was noticeable, so I weighed a front of each, obviously different tyres but 17.1 to 14.1 kg!

Surprised me too! The only site I've seen weights for the various wheels I've always thought gave some odd numbers and now I'm convinced of it! They show 0.3kg difference.

You can feel the difference on the roads round here, both with the 2.7 and the S2.

That looks really nice ,Mike-thanks for putting up the pics-I love the colour-it looks very similar to the Nightfire Red on my last Rover Turbo Vitesse Sport -in fact it had the same colour leather seats-enjoy it.[:)]

Nice car Mike. Also nice to see you bought the fastest model in the second best colour. [:D]

It just looks fastest, with those wheels. I suspect that the tyres have made a far larger difference than has yet been allowed for.

Love the colour, but more than that I really like the radio/cassette...never play CDs in mine, and would love to get that finishing touch to the interior.

A friend in Germany with a Mercedes W123 had the original Becker (or Blaupunkt?) updated with an MP3 port.....

nice buy Mike! Looks great [8D] I forget, is this your first S2?

Are there any traces of the Cat C damage/repair and therefore anything to sort, or just enjoy it?

Hi Andy - Yes my first S2!

The repair is not good, but ok for the time being, my cars live outside and get used regularly so concours it will never be.

Its pretty solid and has been looked after, its faded where not resprayed has scratches and several trolley dents etc.

I like the wheels and think they do go with the colour. If anyone can tell me the weight difference between Contisports and Khumo KH35s, I'd love to know!

All I can say is what I weighted them at- Contis on the D90s and Khumos on the Gullies.

The Stereo will be staying! Ill take out the CD multi changer and use that line in to play from my phone. I have already installed an old Bluetooth kit in it - getting a bit full of wires behind the stereo!

So...the big question is what do you think of the S2 after so many miles in the two Luxes (Luxi??)?

I know my feelings, intersted to hear other views. [:)]

Glad you've got to experience the S2 now then Mike - and you're right about the speed, it does get up there quickly!

Mostly Im joking Paul, but as the PCGB register secretary I do think that you shouldn't add weight to the made up nonsense that is being perpetuated.
