New seats for 3.2

Guest

I am thinking or replacing the 2 front seats in my 3.2 Targa. I would like to replace them with non-original, manual reclining seats (to save a bit of weight).

I would be interested to hear from people who have done this, who can recommend suitable makes/models.

Is this a job I could takle myself?

Thanks!

Have a look at Recaro.com/co.uk. Because all Porsche seats are Recaro manufactured you have a much easier time with compatability. A Recaro seat with Recaro sliders should be a simple bolt in fit.

Once you picjk a seat you like, I strongly suggest you pick up the phone and call Recaro for fitment and compatability advice. At least one guy at Recaro UK has a 3.2 with race seats so they have a good idea what works and will not work. Take it from me, it is much easier to just buy the whole lot from one source than to try to work out what fits with what.

BTW, if you want to save a meaningful amount of weight you really need to go to a shell type race seat. Swap 2 sports electric height adjustment seats for RS style shell seats and you net nearly 40kg weight reduction. What you are contemplating is worth more like 10-15kg. There is a thread on this forum where I detailed my race seat install if you are interested - search under my name.

Like Richard says Simon taking the seats out is a doddle, they are a bit heavy though.
