Hi I am looking for some new wheels for my boxster 986 ,it has the standard 17" wheels at the moment but would like some bigger wheels but I'm not sure what size to go for someone told me 19" would make the car not drive as nice can anyone give me any advise ? And where would be best place to look ? This brad

I'm not sure if a 986 can take 19" wheels. I think it was only with the 2004 model update that even 18" were possible.

It was a little earlier than that, the early cars (pre Model Year 1998) could not have 18", not because they didn't fit, but because the suspension mounts were not strong enough and shocks transmitted through lower profile tyres could crack the mounts.

So if your car is younger than that, and as long as the tyre clearance is ok (you need to ensure offsets and tyre widths allow clearance - including when you are on full steering lock) then 19" should be ok, but the suspension may well not be tuned for them and as you say, might not give such a good experience.

I remember when I bought my car, 18" wheels were available as an option, but all the road tests said that it was better on 17".
Depends what you want - looks or performance?[:D]

I have fitted 18" GT3 Split rims by sport design, made by BBS,these are great with Pirelli zero tires and cornering is magic.
Highly recommended or go for Speedline replicas[8D]
