New/spare key

Does anyone know if it is possible to get a new/spare key and remote for my 2003 Boxster 2.7 without paying main dealer prices.
I have been quoted £250-265 from my two nearest dealerships.
Thanks for any help.

I was going to say £150. I think you can get the parts, including a blank, from elsewhere and have the key made up, but only a dealer can code it to the car for you. Have a search of the BoXa.net forum, if you can't find anything on here.

I had to get some keys and it cost half an hour in time to program the car plus the keys. They told me it has a list of valid keys in so they too out all bet the 2 I had.

The remote was 81.86, pre-cut key 59.91 and 49.50 to reprogram. Plus VAT of course.

Are you buying a spare or replacing a broken fob? I thought I'd have to buy a replacement as the "opening/closing" internal button (on the circuit board) had broken up and dropped off!
Dealer quotes £150/180 ish including (I think) reprogramming. Quick scan of a well known internet auction site got me two replacement buttons and a new battery for £5.50! Ten minutes with the soldering iron and the jobs a goodun'!
I've ordered two replacement key "backs" as the rubber on both is well worn (and split on one). I'm very pleased, and quids in, with my almost new looking keys. [:D]

Thanks for the info.

I am looking for a spare as i only have the one original set.

I have however already replaced the head as mine was split along the door opening button and also got a new blank cut from the said well known auction site for a tenner.
