I am thinking about buying a pioneer mvh-8200bt unit. do any of you chaps have any experience of them befor I actualy buy one

Looks good - Should fit with the 944 interior well. At power off it looks all black which should keep potential theives at bay.

At this price though - many (including me) would suggest looking at the Becker head units. Nakamichi are also very good.

Thanks for the suggestions. I have looked through the internet but the Becker and Nakamichi sites are not very easy to navigate. Do you know any model numbers that would give a similar spec to the Pioneer unit.

I was searching the inter web last night and came across a parrot unit that had the right spec, but on read ing the forums on the Parrot web site in which it took a dreadfull slagging off I think I have decided against it. It seems no makes a simple USB SD card player.

I fancied the Parrot one as I wanted a unit that didn't have all the CD mechanism and just used solid state media and iPods/MP3 players. Again my view was the Parrot unit got a real slating so I didn't get it.

My view is that you can't go wrong with Pioneer so i'm sure it will be good. However I came to the conclusion that even with uprated speakers the sound was never going to be great so no point in spending too much on a head unit - unless you get into the game of cutting holes in places to install larger and better speakers. I've been there and done that in my past and didn't want to get into that game with the 944.

I agree about the speakers but I am ken to have a selection of music without the trouble of storing the CD's in the limited space our cars allow.
