New stone guards

Gave her a clean last night and a pic of the new stone guards. I'm liking them, still a bit unsure as to whether they take away focus from the natural curves, but overall I'm happy.

The OPC has overfilled my oil AGAIN following the annual oil and filter change last Friday, 5 bars showing on the computer. I was assured by the service desk it had been correctly filled this time. I'm thinking that it is at the right level, but when fully warm the oil is expanding and taking it slightly over the level. That, or just the accuracy of the electronic dipstick.

You can find out about oil levels in the 997 Register technical section Here. There was also an article in May 2013 Porsche Post about the correct way to check oil levels and I'll reproduce it in the TS when my repaired laptop comes back. [:)]

Clive.

Thanks Clive, I queried the levels with my OPC this morning and got the following response...

Hi Andy

You're right, we fill it to four to allow expansion when warm, five isn't
overfull you'd get the warning like you did before if it was.

As the engines run hot, as you would imagine on a sports car, the oil
quantity can expand and that top bar is just breathing space if you will.

...which I think technically is correct and makes sense, but clearly differs from the manual.

A bit like those dummy decals Porsche put on the mule cars for disguise. Love the black wheels but not keen on those black stone guards.

They are very marmite. I'm getting used to them, find it interesting the difference of opinion people have on them.

The OPC supplied and fitted for me...£125. If anyone would like the part number (they're from the Speedster) let me know.

Sorry but it's a no from me. In the photo the eye does focus on them more than the intakes on a Turbo or Cayman. I'm sure they look better in the flesh but they are not on my Xmas list.

Nick

I think they visually disturb the smooth lines of the 911 but can see they look different from the norm...
