New suspension??

My front suspension has started to squeak a lot and it's probably time to review what to replace them with. It's been suggested to me that i should invest in a set of Nitron shocks. This, i understand will give me better road holding, better tyreware, etc. As the price of the Nitron kit is just shy of 3 times the cost of the standard Porsche offering, i wonder if it would be value for money? Is anyone using Nitron shocks? I know they are more specifically aimed at the racing end of the spectrum, and as I'm only likely to do a very occasional track day, would this be a good investment??
Any thoughts or comments would be appreciated.

You may be jumping the gun a bit here. It may just be a case of replacing worn bushes or at worst refurbing your existing dampers. Getting Nitrons is complete overkill

I'm with Rod. If you change to a coilover system you won't be replacing the wishbones, control arms, ARBs, etc, which are the things most likely to be causing the noises.

Best bet would be to sort out the squeaks and rattles, and see how you feel about it then.

Not sure what part of the country you are based Martyn. However you won't go far wrong by contacting Chris Franklin at Centergravity. (Suspension, geo specialist). Plenty of guys on this forum have called upon his skills, myself included. He has also had direct dealings with Nitron, so is very well informed regarding there application.
As has already being pointed out, you may only need replacement bushes. I'm sure Chris will help you rectify your noise issue ;)

Many thanks for the comments guys...............when i lean on the noisy front wing, it takes a lot longer to recover to normal height than the other front wing does. Also, if i twist the spring around half a turn, the noise abates for a day or two. The slow recovery made me think the damper had gone but didn't necessarily explain the squeaking. I'll give Centregravity a call.

Nitron is full on racing stuff. If you do decide to upgrade your suspension and your car is a predominantly road going car that might see the track once in a while and you don't want it to be shown up when you do, then may I suggest you take a look at KWv3. I put these on my 944 back in the day and they completely and utterly transformed the car. It really was in a complete and utter different league. I know that KW is pretty popular with the GT3 guys too.

Thanks for the tip Scott. I understand that with the standard Porsche suspension you can't adjust the camber. My tyres are wearing unevenly at the front, does anyone know what the best settings for both tow and camber should be for fast road use??

+1 for Chris @ CG - he should be able to look over your car and give you a pretty reasonable idea almost on the spot what's wrong - remember he's looked at over 1500 Porsches now, and as such has seen all faults !

if it's creaking, my guess would be a delaminated bush (ask Chris to show you one !) probably in the coffin arm

And yes, Nitron is the proverbial sledgehammer to crack a nut - and you may still find it doesn't fix the problem !!
