New Targa GTS incoming - insurance recommendations and more

New member saying hello with a first post for my first Porsche!

I have a Targa GTS that's finished build and hopefully on it's way to the OPC right now. Excited to be soon taking delivery and although I imagine this question gets asked a lot I wonder if anyone had any advice in terms of insurance? I'm assuming I'll need/want GAP, but note that a number of providers offer guaranteed value so was wondering what works out best over say five years?

I expect that the normal providers (Churchill, Admiral etc) will provide the most price competitive quotes, but has anyone had good experiences with the likes of Lockton or Classicline etc? I don't plan to track the car so cover for track days would be wasted. What is most important is that in case of an accident/claim the full value of a replacement is covered, a courtesy car is provided and that repairs are done at a specialist bodyshop or garage. I'm happy to pay a little more to get better cover, but not lots more!

Finally are there any "must have" accessories you'd recommend? Coming from a M3P Tesla the thought of having to plug your iPhone in is quite primitive! So a wireless charger/dock is top of my list. Also considering GT3 side skirts at some point. The car is getting good PPF coverage and ceramic so should be good in terms of paint protection for years to come.

Thanks!

Classicline have been extremely fair with me over the past few years, they do offer a guaranteed value option ... am not sure on the remainder of your requirements but worth a call

I stay positive and avoid GAP - I like primitive and employ an ignition ON / communication OFF policy - Be sure to mention PPF when discussing a policy as some insurers are averse to it ...

An amazing first Porsche, congratulations!
For me, Classicline was the most competitive. Lots on offer but I was told that they do not provide GAP cover on cars over >£100k.
Good luck with the search.

Dec 18 Targa GTS, Im with LV, mileage restricted to 2k PA as I rotate cars. Cost £325 based on 'Market Value' of 92k.
I have five year gap cover with ALA @ £360 (max claim 50k) so £72 per annum.
Im happy with my setup.
Good luck and welcome to PCGB

if I can re-use this post…. Newbie here :)
I was wondering what you did in the end? I’m taking delivery of mine next week - and Admiral came to £1,700 per year which seems reasonable.

Do I need GAP? Who provides that?

I bought our gap insurance through the dealer. I also bought tyre and alloy insurance too. I’ve already claimed for a few tyre, (screw in a car park, grrrrr). I’m ashamed to say that I’ve claimed on gap too when I wrote off a car. I took gap on our 992 and would again. Thanks Nigel.

Buy your GAP from ALA and use the code MSE25.

Never buy GAP from the dealer. It's waaaaaaay too expensive. I paid £200 for 3 years GAP plus insurance excess cover with ALA for my 718 GTS.

Dealers must now be making `more profit` from selling insurance (GAP - Wheels - Tyres) than the cars themselves, it is often discussed before the car itself :ROFLMAO:

When considering that for tyres, take note of the policy conditions vs. Porsche`s stipulation of wear and replacement across axles
