Hi Everyone,I'm new to the 964 thing,I've had bikes for years, mainly Ducati's but I shattered my arm a few years ago and bought a Boxter as I couldn't ride my bikes. What an eyeopener that was,I was so impressed I bought a 91 C4 Targa which I've now owned for a couple of months.I absolutely love it,found out the hard way about DME relays being a bit of a weak point and now want to know about getting a bit more performance and noise out of it,that's the biker in me coming out I suppose.Any advice would be appreciated, thanks in advance.

Welcome aboard!

If you have a look on the search function you may gain a bit of knowledge on tuning, failing that someone will no doubt pop along in a bit....

Hi and welcome. I also used to be a biker , Laverdas were my last fling before i moved into Porsches.
964s can easily be made to sound as good as a Duke with a the usual cup/cat bypass pipes. You wont
get much performance gain without spending $. The best mod i have done on a 964 was to
upgrade the springs/shocks to something like Bilstein / KW coilovers.Night & day improvement.

Hiya gazzy and welcome.

Best way to mod the exhaust system by removing the primary silencer with a cupe pipe which fits across the rear of the car. The cup pipe will most likely set you back about £150. A cheaper option is to replace the secondary silencer with a g-pipe. Costs vary with this item as I have seen them sell for £50 upwards on ebay. Retail about £110. Also a cat by-pass would be a good option but before doing this check to see if your car requires a cat by law. Cut off date is somewhere in 1991.

I can second the suspension upgrade. I have just had KW3s fitted and upgraded the anti roll bars and replaced all the suspension and wishbone bushes with Powerflex items. The difference is amazing. The car feels so much faster as I am able to use the power more confidently then when I had the original aging shocks/springs.
AMD are doing free fitting on the KW3s at present as well - £1320 all in. However I had the top mounts replaced alse which were £90

Welcome to the world of 964.
Don't forget, any change you make to the suspension, allow additional cost for the geometry set-up and alignment afterwards. Also, costs will vary depending on how much work you are prepared to do yourself, like fitting the struts and springs and replacing bushes.
Enjoy!

Thanks for the replies,I'll watch ebay for G pipes and cup silencers, as for the suspension I take your point,it probably is the smartest move, best money I've ever spent on bikes but bling has to come first with my new toy. While I'm here can anyone tell me how to remove the steering wheel, how does the centre come off? Thanks again for the advice,I'll let you know what I end up doing.
