Merry Christmas to you all. 3 months into Boxster ownership and today my wife surprised me with a Club Membership so I thought I best introduce myself and my car.

its a 2005 vintage 3.2S that I hunted down in Ascot, purchased off Peter Ratcliffe (from TVs ‘Four Rooms’ if anyone remembers it. I had looked for an ‘S’ in the right spec for a while and spotted it while sat beside the pool in Majorca while trawling Autotrader. It needed to be Seal Grey or Lapis Blue, it had to have extended leather heated Sorts seats, 19” Wheels, a Full Service History, Bose would be preferable as would the Sports Chrono, this car had it all plus the bonus of a factory sports exhaust, I arranged to view it the first available day I was back in the UK and drove it home nervously but excited, even though it had a slight oil leak (I know I probably should have walked away...) it drove lovely and I had a smile all the way back to Sheffield.

I enjoyed it for a couple of weeks and then had it into Revolution Porsche to get the oil leak sorted (turned out to be RMS seal) and while they were at it I got them to put in a new clutch. They noted a few jobs that need sorting, nothing major, the most notable was the condensers were leaking, but I’ll do that in the new year.

Since then it’s been faultless and brings a smile to my face every time I look at it, I’ve upgraded the head unit and spent a small fortune on cleaning and detailing products.

Well enough of the waffle here’s the car.

Merry Xmas and welcome to the club - hope you enjoy your Boxster ownership.

Hope to see you at some events in the New Year.

Matt

Adam,

The National Events are published on the website and the individual regions have their own forum page where events are published. Regions also send out an email newsletter with forthcoming events and they are also listed in the Porsche Post

Welcome to the club Adam.
I have only been a Porsche owner myself for 3 years.
Had my 2011 987 II for 15 months then traded in for a 2012 981 S.

I replaced my ac condensers along with the drier unit on my 981 in the summer.
Not a difficult job and if you are handy with a spanner its a doddle.
Most difficult part was manhandling the front bumper on & off the car but would be easy with a helper.
I took the light units out so I could disconnect the front light wiring loom connectors.
To make reconnecting easier when putting everything back, I removed the wheel arch liner front sections.

Thanks guys, was looking at doing it myself but to be honest Revolution have quoted very reasonably and it’s not a lot more than if I bought the parts myself and then had to pay someone to regas, and then of course I get a warranty too.

Welcome to the club Adam and Merry Christmas to you too.
I also have a 2005 Boxster S in Seal Grey although it isn’t as highly specced as yours. I‘ve Had it since 2015 and absolutely love it.
At present Region 7 Club Nights are as follows, however, an additional club night will be held near Sheffield. Details will be announced in a few weeks time.

Club Nights
Our Club nights are held on the first Wednesday of the month at the at the Woodlands Hotel Leeds which can be found just up the A62 from the Porsche Centre and just off J27 of the M62, post code LS27 7LY. We aim to kick the night off officially at 8.00pm where we have an organised event.

Not only have you chosen an excellent car and joined a great club, you’ve also made a great choice in having your car cared for by Revolution Porsche who also look after mine. They‘re great guys who do an excellent job at a fair price and they have an excellent reputation for their ethics.

I look forward to meeting you in 2019 which I hope will be a happy and healthy year for you

P.S. Those are great photos of your car Adam.

It cost me £85 for the re-gas as the price of the new type of gas has gone through the roof recently.
With getting the parts through Euro Car Parts on one of the discount offer deals, it cost me less than £300 for parts and re-gas.
I was getting quotes in the order of £800-£1000 by a specialist ac garage and over that from the local Porsche dealer.

Merry Christmas Adam, I too am new to the club having owned my 2005 Boxster since Feb2018. I know what you mean about having a smile on your face![;)]
I have also used Revolution Porsche and find both their prices and their work very good indeed.
Happy motoring
Phil

Phil, Adam, welcome both

I've done my head unit too, and changed the condensers recently. Parts from Design 911. Fantastic car........

Welcome to the club Adam - your wife deserves a nice glass or two of bubbly for bringing you to the best Porsche Club in the world [:D]

Hi Adam

Welcome to the club, and a great Club it is.

To make the best use of your membership try and get along to to your Regions meeting and events. At these meetings join fellow members and share in the enjoyment of Porsche ownership.

Welcome Adam.
Im around 30 years into my Club membership when I bought my 73 911T to restore and hill climb.
just repainted it after I did it in 89.
currently also have a 987.2 Boxster, a 2.9 engine, and continue to do a few errands on the ar, did my A/C rads etc following advice on this section of the forum.
Quoted around £1000 but diy for just under 300.

front cooling pipes next and the aos, but the car is a fab car to go anywhere.

make sure you use the club and get to the small and major events, they are all eye-popping, friendly and full of great people.

Thanks everyone, grilles will be on the list when the air on gets done JMR, can’t believe Porsche didn’t put any in to start with.

Hi Adam and Madelvic, I would be interested to know what you changed the head unit too? and approximate cost? Was this DIY or professionally fitted? I have a 2009 987.1 and am thinking of replacing my head unit.
Thanks Guys.

Welcome to the Porsche Club, Adam and welcome also to the Yorkshire region. My wife Jane and I are part of the CoG in region 7 and hope to meet you both before long, sadly we were unable to get to last nights meeting.

I too too have a grey Boxster S, just 4 years younger than yours but I too fell in love with it as soon as I drove it nearly six years ago. You can usually spot my car, it’s invariably the dirtiest car in the car park.

I will second Roger’s recommendation for the Zunsport grilles to protect your condensers. RPM Porsche near Knaresborough are distributors and can fit them whilst you wait.

Hope to see you soon

Graham
