Hi all
Hope you are all well. I am currently the owner of a Audi TT and am now seriously starting to look at trading in for a 2.7 Boxster (03-04 plate) Can anyone give me any tips and also any idea on annual service costs by an independent specialist?

Hope you can help.....

Rich

Lots of advice out there. I think the bottom line is to pay as much as you can afford, buy from a reputable dealer, get a survey if no warranty and join Porsche Club (you will get a discount on service & spares at an OPC, a great magazine, super events and nice friends). Some things to look out for (apart from the obvious) are oil leaks, brake disks and hood. Over to you Mark!

Come on boys - help this guy!

I've owned a couple of Boxsters in the past and had no issues, but would make a couple of suggestions when thinking of getting one.
Get a back copy of 911 and Porsche World with the buyers guide, I think this is the one: http://www.911porscheworld.com/shop.aspx?dept_id=107&item_id=2084

Don't dismiss the idea of servicing at the official Porsche centres, they're not too expensive for a standard service and help keep the value up of your car.

Depending where you are in the country, there's plenty of independents who are typically 20% cheaper on labour than the OPC, as long as they have the right knowledge and diagnostics, you should be OK. Here's one my son uses for his Cayman and are recommended: http://www.gt-one.co.uk/porsche-servicing-maintenance.html

If you buy from a dealer, then fine, if you're buying privately consider getting a pre-purchase check from Peter Morgan at http://www.porscheinspections.com/

One thing for sure, coming from a TT you'll not be disappointed!
