Well Done Jamie, lovely car!
How does it feel compared to the 964?
How does it feel compared to the 964?
I'll tell you when I've driven it !!!!! I've driven others in the past and the general feeling of balance and composure can actually make them feel a bit slow, but the spec on this one should ensure it goes pretty well........
German non-sunroof car with a/c and keep-fit windows
Factory LSD
Factory buckets
MO30 brakes
MO30 ARBs
ÂŁ7,500 worth of JRZ remote reservoir dampers !
Fresh engine rebuild
Wayne Schofield remap.
The idea behind it was to get hold of a car that I could use properly with much less regard to its value than the RS, yet still offering an engaging steer and a reasonably sound investment. It was build as a Ring car and spends much of its life out there. It is in Devon for a couple of months while I extend my garage a little, and I'll take delivery in Jan / Feb sometime. It's done plenty of miles and has had its fair share of adventures, but it has been maintained at ridiculous expense and wants for nothing, so I suspect it should prove a pretty sound purchase.
I had been looking at another CS owned by a mate that was a complete shed and needed ÂŁ10-ÂŁ12k spent on it, and then this one appeared via another friend and made the whole conversation rather academic !
Just need to work out how to explain to the wife that I've gone and bought "another bloody car" ! Just the thing with another baby due in January..........

Whoaah ,
Sounds like it is just the ticket for something to be used on the track. Have not been in the CS version but was really impressed when I drove a 968 Sport in Germany. It was no slouch and was very composed.
Keep us posted on the progress, maybe a Px lap in the future please![]

With the exception of a lightweight flywheel it has all the bits that CS owners look for, so it should go pretty well. It will be out on track in 2013......... I plan not to be too precious about it, and it won't be a garage queen, though I can see some Claridge-esque tendencies creeping in .....
It's going to live, essentially in a car-port, so need to get hold of a good quality outdoor cover.
Pass laps welcome.
I'll post some more pics.......

968 CS is probably the best affordable sportscar for trackdays, the Ring, clubsport action, etc.
What I saw on track in the early 90s, when the 968 was launched, was an impressive and controllable handling - and the most underestimated car ever I think.
Congrats, that in fact is a new toy!

Sadly Oulton not going to happen. New nipper due in Jan, so the Mrs has told me in no uncertain terms that I will not be racing next season, and I suspect that extends to trackdays ! I'll just keep quiet about it and hope that I might get to do some races and trackdays later on in the summer. If I'm on best behaviour I might be allowed out to play !

Congrats Jamie - looks like a lovely car, and fit for purpose. Oh congrats on child num 2 as well. Hope that all goes well.
Well that confirms it -at a Workers Conference a few years ago, we were all asked to introduce ourselves and our Region or Register in one line -so it was , "Melvin Spear, 964RS Register -the most virile register in the Club"....well done Jamie! (and partner!!)[]
