New Turbo at last

Hi All.
Well finally bought one, picked it up yesterday and have not stopped grinning since.
It's a late 1988 Turbo S 250 bhp with the magnesium wheels (I think), does not have a sunroof which I actually prefer as no wind noise, but has cruise control instead. Lovely black leather interior and I think it is Baltic Blue. Does anyone know where I can get the paint code colour descriptions/codes???
I suppose like you all it is now a slippery slope to upgrades now!!!
Time to pay my subscription to PCGB now.
Will try and get a pic up soon of my shiny beast.
Look forward to speaking to you all more soon
Cheers

Welcome to the Booosssstttt Club Lee, next step finacial ruin [;)]

The trouble with the Turbot is that they are so upgradeable you just can't stop your self. I went out in mine yesterday, the first time after a week of driving a deisel. This is a good thing to do as, after a week without, it seems even faster than I remembered it to be. The other option is you drive it every day, get used to the power, then think it is slow and start looking for more poke.

Absolutely.

Lee - your paint code should be on the sticker inside the rear panel and on a duplicate sticker in your service book. All your option codes will be there as wll.

Hi Fen

I presume the paint code is this then:

030 220 288 437 438 454

It is the second to bottom row of numbers on the mentioned ticket.

Has anyone on here got a list of what all the codes mean?

Thanks again.

I too drive a diesel in the week John, so will now look forward to
Turbo induced mayhem on the weekend.

Time for a set of Cup 2's now I think. Any good contacts on that front?

Will dig out the offsets for them on here and raid the piggy bank!!!

Cheers

Lee

Hi Lee
See here for an option decoder - http://www.kindel.com/Porsche/options.asp
Congratulations on the new beast, from a fellow Turbo S owner, the aerodynamically-improved non sunroof model!

Steve

IS it very sad that withiout looking at the decoder I know you have koni suspension and a limited slip diff, probably some leather inside and headlamp washers? - Yes []

Anyway the paint code is probably on the line above and is a combination of letters and numbers e.g. LY7P

if you have the standard wheels they are the alloy but forged instead of cast so I believe lighter and stronger.

Hope you enjoy it! [:D][:D][:D]

Tony

Oh and Steve don't you know the open sunroof provides 100Kilos of down force at 100mph spread over all 4 wheels so as not to affect the perfect balance.

Probably [:D][:D][:D]

And you can pull it down on the straight to reduce drag and lift it as you come to a bend to act as an air brake and increase down force. Such variable aerodynamics are so effective that they have been banned in motor sport.

My next mod is to upgrade my sun roof to the M030/465 version, this gives faster motor actuisation and higher lift rams. Following that I will install the Guru Racing control module which links a G sensor into the motor relay allowing the roof to lift and lower subject to accelleration and breaking moments.

Down down down, another wallet bites the dust....All together now...

Congrats, another one without the roof, you know it makes sence. [:)]

Hi Tony

And yes you are right it does have all those bits, you have been doing your homework!!!

I had the wrong code written down for the paint and as you have pointed out.

It is LY5Z whatever that stands for???

I presume then slim that yours is also the "more slippery" non sunroof variant!!!

Cheers for your replies guys

Lee

Congratulations Lee, where did you find that one? I've been looking at 944 T's with someone else and hadn't seen one that colour for sale anywhere?

A couple of websites list LY5Z as either Ocean Blue or Nautic Blue.

I know its not Baltic Blue as that is mine and it is LM5P [:D]

May the booooost be with you - any chance you could make it to the Front Runner day next Sunday?

Hi Paul

This one came up for sale in Bath. It was the 11th or 12th (I have lost count!!!) I had gone to view. There were some shocking examples out there.
Was for sale at xmas at a specialist in Bristol, guy bought it and could not get the dog in the back(why you would want to take the dog in the back of a 944 I do not know!!!)
He part exed it with a local dealer in Bath for a Vectra estate with dog guard!!!
I saw it on the autotrader same day and shot straight down there and did the deal, went skiing for a week then came back and picked it up 24 hours ago.
Needs a few small things doing, but generally is very good age 15 1/2!!!!

Where exactly is Frontrunner day? Did I see someone say it is near Warwick as I am in Stamford Lincs. Not a million miles from you Paul.

I will se what I can do, would love to come and meet up.

It is at Cornbury House the PCGB clubhouse in Moreton In Marsh in the Cotswolds.

Paul Hedges the 924 Register Sercretary has organised a day for the front engined Porsche, but all are welcome. I think one of us will have to sign you in the building as a non-member, but thats not a problem and it'll give you chace to 'try before you buy' [:D]

It'll just be a few hours of tyre kicking, bonnet raising, petrol head type of thing in the car park. As well as tea and biccies in the clubhouse and there are normally some very interesting display cars inside, like a stripped out Boxster (so you can see the engine), half a 996, a classic 911 rally car and a 356 etc There was a Le Mans car there last time I went, but I didnt see it there this week at the AGM

I will see if the other half will let me away from the shops and come up.

I joined the PCGB yesterday, but I suppose it will take a while for my bits
and peices to come through.

Cheers

Lee
