New tyre recommendations

Hi All,

Happy New Year to everyone.

I need new tyres on my C4, consequence of them being old plus damage most likely from my last track day in December.

The shop I use says the ContiSports I usually have are on back order with no known delivery date so he's given me some options.

Michelin Pilot Sport 2
Pirelli P Zero Rosso
Bridgestone SO2 (N3) or SO2a (N4)

I had Michelin on the car when I bought it but switched to ContiSport as the Michelin are very straight sided walls and the profile on the ContiSport comes out further to protect the wheel rims. However, I have no experience of the P Zero's or SO2's and hoped someone could help out with their knowledge of these tyres, profile and general experience.

Also, I run 36psi all round on the ContiSport; would changing the tyre necessitate a change in pressures?

Any advise would be welcome.

Rgds,
Kevin.

I use Michelin Pilots, mine appear to protrude enough to protect the rim. Having said that I make sure I stay well clear of the kerbs ;)

Running Bridgestone SO2 on my C2 and they are very good. A little loud perhaps but grip in wet and dry is very good. Wouldn't touch the Pirelli tbh, just dont rate them, these were fitted when I bought the car.

When M-PS2 changed from N2 to N3 about 4 or 5 years back they added a rib around the side wall (known as a kerb protector I believe).

Agree with Rob about Pirellis. They are often a few quid cheaper but don't last as well as Mich, Conti or Bridgestone.

S02 a's on my C2, done a couple of track days with them and wear has been minimal.

Good on road too so in my opinion it's an excellent tyre.

Thanks all for the replies. I've gone for the SO2 N3's based on feedback and web searches. Being fitted Saturday. Be nice to get rid of the rear with the sidewall ripples. Maybe that contributed to my 360 on the track day!
