New tyres - a recommendation/review.

Hi guys,

I acquired a set of new tyres the other day and I thought I would put my frst impressions on here in case anyone else is needed some new shoes. I have been a bit strapped for cash lately as I got some new alloys and a few other bits and bobs and after careful consideration and research I decided to take what I felt at the time was a bit of a 'risk' and go for some relatively unknown tyres from ebay.

They are called Neuton NT5000's and are found on ebay in a variety of sizes. there is bit about them on the internet but it took me quite a bit of googling as they are reltively new tyres. The company who produce them are linked with Yokohama.

Here is a link to the ebay page anyway.

They cost approximately £85 to £90 for a pair. Those who have purchased any including myself seem to rate them highly but a lot of people are reluctant to try a relatively unknown brand.

Having driven on them for a couple of days I have been impressed by the handling of them. They obviously wont be fully worn in yet as I have only done about 50 miles and I have yet to try them in the wet. Once I do I will post an update. I have driven fairly aggresively (but safely) on quiet roads and the level of grip has been very impressive. (Had Proxes before but admittedly with only 2-3mm of tread). The level of road noise is probably slightly louder than the proxes but still reasonable.

I dont want this thread to sound like I am trying to sell them or whatever (i have no ties with the tyres or suppliers) but I know people see unknown brands as a huge gamble. My early impressions have been great however. For the price I think they are good value. A lot of people who have gone for them seem to have been impressed. They have a lip to help protect your alloys too. [:D]Those who will only stick with the known brands seem to be sceptical though.

For anyone on the lookout for new tyres I have put a few links which relate to these tyres below..

Like I say, I will post an update after I have tried them in the wet.
