Hi Guys,
Whilst waiting for my bare metal respray, the dreaded MOT has come around again, they seem to come round much more quickly these days just like birthdays, but when you get to forty several its only to be expected I suppose.
Anyway I knew my rear tyres were getting close to the limit, so I thought I'd better invest in a nice new pair.
I decided to replace them with similar tyres, that I'm more than happy with, which are the faithful Michelin Pilot MXM 225 -50 /16 V
Now part of my job is involved in working at numerous motorcycle shows around the country (and some car shows) A lot of these shows require you to stay at them for up to 4 days. Nearly all of these shows are held at various showgrounds like the BMF shows. (The British Motorcycle Federation in case you didn't know!) I used to stay in a tent (well twice) but that was far too uncomfortable for me, so then I decided to stay in a nearby hotel, but that meant that you missed all of the evenings entertainment on site.
Which could be several bands, bars and a general feeling of fellowship albeit a little blurred by 3am.
So I bought a Chevrolet Astro day van! I thought you'd be impressed
But you can sleep in it on site, its got a full leather interior and the rear bench seat folds into a double bed at the touch of a button!
Anyway I digress, the point I'm getting to is that I needed to get hold of a couple of new tyres for the chevy but had no luck locally at SEVEN tyre dealers so I contacted a (relatively) local American vehicle servicing etc garage and they put me in touch with a mobile guy who can, it turns out supply and fit any tyre to any vehicle, and cheaper than you can buy locally.
So he did the rear pilots on my 911 for £88.51 ea + the dreaded. Is that good?
Incidentally he did the chevy tyres (Generals) for £59.58 ea + vat
plus my Toyota Previa tyres (Kumho's) for £50.21 ea + vat All at the same time!! Well one at a time, but you know what I mean!
If anyone would like this tyre chaps details, (He does actually specialise in performance cars) please email me.
Oh I nearly forgot a guy actually flagged this tyre guy down in the street the other week whilst in his van, and asked him if he could get a certain type of tyre for his GT3.
His reply was, would you be looking for track day, or road tyres Sir.
Track day, was the reply, the tyre guy tapped into his lap top and came back with, would tommorow be soon enough sir?
The bloke was more than happy with the price and he didn't even have to leave the house to have his new tyres fitted!!
Cheers Glenn
