new V 6 Diesel

Yes and no.

Yes you'll be disappointed by the lack of that V8 thrum, the stupidly fast shove in the back and the burble at idle.

No you won't miss 18 to the gallon, when you start getting 36 instead. You'll learn to appreciate the torque, even from the smaller engine (is yours going to be the new facelift model with the twin turbo?)
and the sport switch is still there for a bit of fun. It wafts along at three figure speeds quietly and smoothly and I don't think it's any heavier so handling is no different.

Thanks Peter,
if i go for one not sure exactly what i want.
just like the look of the new model but financially i would be mad to
sell my 50 K miler for nowt and pay whatever for a new model but we
have to be mad sometimes i guess .It looks so much smaller with the new shape .
i think earliest new deliveries around 2nd Qtr next year .

That's the trouble, the longer you leave it the bigger the gap price wise. We did that last time around and the old car and a £40k bill for effectively the same car was a bit of a shocker. Still, I think they are reasonable value compared with some competition, (including the Macan).

Hi
My Cayenne V6 diesel 2013 has now 28k on it and last weekend i decided to a coastal journey as the weather over here was great. As well i am going to put on my winter tyres shortly. So selected low level on the air suspension with the 21" wheels and tyres on . Left Eglinton just ouside of Lderry and travelled the coastal road to Magillagan and then boarded the Ferry and arrived in Greencastle in the republic of Ireland nad travelled back to Eglinton via the coastal route.
The route is an absolute gem with corners , fast straights and all sort of varying cambered surfaces. I can tell you there was nothing passed me , this thing is an elevated 911 , suspension and brakes great and guess what 36mpg.
I drove the 4.2 v8 diesel at Silverstone and it is fantastic , my only gripe with the 3.0 v6 is 9K on a set of tyres !!!! , god only knows how long a set of 21" will last on the 4.2v8 with all that extra torque.

The old saying " THIS IS NOT A REHEARSAL ", you get one shot and that is it.:ROFLMAO:

That post brings back memories of too long ago. Motoring on those fab quiet roads in those days
combined with the main reason for the visits "GOLF"... had a 924 S then....
i wonder what I would think today about the roads .Are they crowded ?

9k mls [:-]

I've done nearing 60k miles in a 2011 Cayenne V6 3.0D. Can't fault it. Nice handling (on 20" wheels/Continental 'all-seasons'/PASM/Air), remarkable performance and economy, and very comfortable and luxurious.

But 9k from a set of tyres is ludicrous. My first set lasted 30k mls and second (current) set look like exceeding that.

Make no mistake though - the Cayenne is a very clever, luxury SUV, with some sporting pretentions - it's not a sports car (same goes for the V8d and the latest RRS) - the truly sporting Porsches are in another league.

would i be disappointed with a V6 Diesel after my V8 Petrol ?

From the V8 d point of view , I do about 20k miles a year getting honestly 33 to 39 mpg every tank and on motorway speeds often getting 40+ mpg. Would not expect better from the V6 , only negative is new set of rear tyres after 10k miles fronts May last 15k .....that's my only negative, o and that stupid old fashion cruise on my car that does not break (latest model does) , so I have to watch down hill cruise speeds, bloody annoying !

Tyres have been a problem on the Kn from day one for me.
However after the originals wore out on the V8 (continentals ? ? ) I fitted
Bridgestones for summer and Scorpions for winter and have never looked back since.
I can't believe how good the Bridgestones have been .I must look at the date on them .
I think I might get a shock.....

That road is very quiet and only after the ferry arrives in Magillagan would get you a batch of cars for a short period, in general our roads are quiet. You have to obey the speed limits on both coastal routes as you pass small community areas.
HMP Magillagan Prison Camp is on that route and rather than a fixed penalty notice you do a few days in jail !!!!:rolleyes::rolleyes:
I forgot to mention on last post that i was in sport mode the whole journey.

i suppose Eire roads must be a lot busier than 20 years back but i guess quiet
in comparison to almost roadless UK
Billions on HS2 PEANUTS ON ROADS ...
