New Wheels

Hi,
First post on this forum and I thought I'd start with the never ending issue of 17 inch vs. 18 inch wheels.

I've got a 1994 993C2. It still has the original 16 inch wheels and I've decided to upgrade them to newer / larger one's. I was originally thinking of putting 18 inch split rims on it but having read the info in the FAQ section of this forum, I see that my car's VIN number does not fall into the collection of cars which Porsche recommends for 18 inch wheels. I'm not sure if this really matters but slightly worried from an insurance and performance point of view. I'll probably go with 17 inch wheels but just thought I'd ask a few quick questions...

1) Has anyone got a 1994 C2 with 18 inch wheels...any issues they've had
2) If I go with 17 inch, do I still need to get a steering rack brace fitted?
3) Spare wheel - the 16 inch temp in my boot (bonnet) is presumably redundant now. What do I do...get a 17 inch equivalent?

Any thoughts / input, greatly received.

Cheers

p.s. Also getting a Fabspeed Maxflow (not the Supercup) exhaust, xenon headlights and a few other bits installed, so should bring it into the modern age a bit. Also considering the Ninemeister 993+1 camshaft upgrade...has anyone got it / recommends it?
