new windscreen

I maybe looking at a new windscreen (981 cayman s), got a stone chip this week and also there are a couple of scratches and quite a few other smaller stone chips.
Anything I need to know, what are all the lines on the screen for? (I assume autolights, I don't have auto wipers etc.)
Where is the aerial?
It will be on the insurance, would it be OEM replacement, is it best to get OPC to do, though I have had no problems with Insurance contractors in the past.

Thanks in advance
Derek

The aerial is in the windscreen on my R.

Not sure if OPC`s fit screens, probably their contracted bodyshops ?

I also have had good service from insurance contractors ... for non Porsche`s.

The original will possibly have St Gobain Sukurfit stamped on the screen in the bottom LH passenger side .

If you go through the national ones I am sure it is not an original ,had one fitted a good few years ago and insisted on an Porsche screen and after a bit of debate they agree as it was ordered from my local OPC and they confirmed it was ordered ,fitted at my home thing it was Auto glass from memory

Ask your insurer who they use and ask them what they fit, get a price off the OPC who will be able to obtain an OEM screen and will have their preferred contract fitter, I had one fitted by my then insurer's preferred glass fitter and it was a OEM part so no problems, I have heard of others who had screens replaced at the OPC by their contract fitter and with the insurer's agreement, cost was often cheaper than the national mobile fitters. It can be a bit of a palaver as most insurance offices don't consider that it could effect your warranty adversely but you have the right to a correct fitment.

On the subject of the lines in the screen, one is the radio aerial and others are for the operation of the sat nav if you have that installed.

I would only have a screen replaced as a last resort - can't it be repaired.
yes it can be repaired no problem, just thought might as well get new one with the other marks on it, might just get it repaired for now.

thanks for all the replies.
