Hello everyone, just wanted to post a quick note - Just bought a 98R Boxster and it is fabulous!!!!

Part Ex'd my 3.2 Carrera Cabriolet and I'm pleased to say I haven't had a regret since. Don't want to be accused of teaching the choir to sing, but the handling, the noise when it hits 4000 rpm, the whole package is just fantastic - and it's a 9 year old car - I'm just over the moon. So now I'm migrating from the 3.2Carrera Forum to the Boxster Forum to complete my transition !

Does anyone else open their front door for a quick peek every now and again? or is that just me.

Anyway, for the record, its a 98R Boxster, Lapis Blue, Blue Hood, Blue Leather. Long live the Boxster !!

welcome john
great to see such childlike glee[:D]weve all been there(and most of us still are!!)

Thanks Guys . It's the 2.5 Litre engine version. Nice spec with climate, wind deflector, leather dash & sports seats.

I'm thinking of treating it to an OPC 12k service - the last 3 in the book were non OPC. What's the view - is an OPC service worth the extra money over a specialist?

I used Autofarm on my 3.2 Carrera andthey were really good, but as this car is a little newer I though an OPC stamp might be good - my local centre is Silverstone - be interested if anyone has any experience of their servicing.

Cheers

John

I'd stick with Autofarm or perhaps Northways in Reading (always good service, honest and thorough).

There's no benefit in an OPC stamp aftr 9 years in my opinion - in fact i'd say independents are more likely to pick up wear and tear items and give an honest appraisal of what needs doing and when.

Agree!

Good one !!

I too love my 2.5 Boxster ! The engine revs with such turbine like smoothness I cannot resist savouring the sound by keeping to lower gears at times. It's nimble yet when you push it will surprise you with its depth of handling.
As a comparison I recently test drove a 997 Carrera costing £64k. The acceleration was very good and grip and comfort likewise. However, to me, it lacked the nimbleness of the Boxster. The nose kept bobbing up and down and the engine was muffled away somewhere behind me. To be frank I was disappointed !
Enjoy the Boxster !!!

I can be a bit vocal at times (usually on football forums), so look forward to having a bit of banter with you and all other posters on this forum.

Cheers.
