Just bought 2005 boxster 3.2s with 9k miles. silver with grey leather and blue roof. satnav, bose, pasm.
not sure what to expect from it. being delivered next week. any advice welcome

Keep an eye on your radiators and condensors (for leaves) and the drain holes under the clamshell (more leaves). Treat the roof with a good waterproofer.

Otherwise just drive it!

When you wash the car, make sure you take it for a short drive before putting the car away - you must dry the brakes out or they will corrode from the inside out - badly!

thanks for that. The car is being kept in a garage but i have taken note. what is the clamshell? and does it need the top octane petrol?

Clamshell is the cover that sits behind the rear of the hood and raises and lowers as you open/ close the hood. You can stop the roof operation part way and inspect under the clamshell for leaves etc. The car will run on 95 ron petrol though its probably better to alternate between 98 and 95 (the ignition automatically adjusts). Most people find it economic to use tesco 100 ron as its cheaper than BP or Shell and the performance / fuel gains are minimal anyway.

I run BP Ultimate 102 in my car. However unless your car has been modified to run on these higher Octane (Track) fuels you are wasting your money.

98 RON is optimum for a UK spec car but the car will happily retard the ignition to run on lower grades and the performance loss is low.

I have a 2006 987S which is wonderful. I am not particularly keen on modifying cars but I have had a Tubi sports exhaust fitted. Something that you may wish to consider.

Enjoy!
