Hi guys, my name Chris I'm 28 and live near Edinburgh currently got quite a few cars one of which is a 2001 boxster. I just bought the Boxster it's a silver front end accident damage not too heavy should repair pretty easily.

I'm looking for some info on the face lift and pre facelift cars. Obviously mine is a pre facelift, is it possible to use facelift panels and what are actually the differences. One last thing is it possible to fit the 2007 boxster wing mirrors to the older cars?

Cheers Chris

I remember 911 and Porsche World magazine featuring a company who did a complete exterior kit to convert a pre-facelift to a post-facelift so it's definitely possible - you could contact the mag to see if they can find the back issue it was in.

If it were me, I'd keep it original. Anyone geeky enough to recognise a facelift would be able to tell that it ain't a facelift!

Essential Styling was the company.

It's pretty easy though - front and rear bumper covers, clear lights all round.
If you want the glass rear window there are now companies that do this. All you would be missing really is the glovebox.

All bolt on stuff. Easy peasy [:D]

You do mean 986 to 986 facelift don't you? (Not 987!)

If so then the wings are the same.

Doing a 986 to 987 will be a little more work - you would need to bolt on 987 front wings AND bonnet.
The rear wings would be more difficult - the joint is a differnt angle at the lights - someone here converted a 996 to 997 though - so not insurmountable!

One other thing I forgot earlier for 986 facelift - the spoiler at the back would need the new "top" part I believe - to match the cutout in the later bumper.

I did mean the 986 yes, but as i need to buy wings and bonnet anyway, might aswell get the 987 ones
