Newbie to the club saying hello...

Keiron

New member
Hi there,

Just thought I would drop a post to introduce myself.

I'm new to the forum, new to PCGB (joined last night) and new to Porsche ownership.

Lived over seas for the past 10 years where Porsche ownership just wasn't an option.

However, having returned to Aberdeenshire last year I took the plunge in October and bought myself a 1984 911 with a twist.....

I'm just North of Aberdeen. I noticed from a post last month there are a few members in Ellon who drive boxters (Graeme's post).

Unfortunately I can't make the next meeting at the Lairhillock, I'm assuming it's on the 3rd April, I arrive back at Aberdeen airport at 8:30pm on that day []. So maybe next time.

Hi Keiron, and welcome to the Forum and to the Club!

That's a great looking car (+1 on pop up headlights!) and I hope we'll be seeing it at some Scotland North events this year.

If you'd like to drop me an email on r2@porscheclubgb.com I'll get you straight on my member email distribution list in advance of getting the monthly membership update from Club head Office. That way you can get up to speed with what the region's up to ASAP.

Hope to meet soon,

Thanks guys,

Yeah, I still have stupid cheesy grin on my face from when I bought the car[:D]

I'll definately be trying to get along to some events to meet up. Was I right in saying that the next Thursday meet is on the 3rd of April? (if so I won't be able to go).

I read somewhere that there is usually a gathering on the 3rd Thursday of the month down in Montrose? That I might be able to go to....

The car has been tucked up in the garage for the winter so any excuse to get out is fine by me.

Hi Keiron and welcome, and another vote for pop up headlamps! [;)]

Not sure about Montrose but there is a meeting on the third Thursday in Monifieth. Milton Hotel, 8pm. You would be more than welcome, but it might be a bit of a hike from north of Aberdeen!

Monifeith... that's the one, I know it began with an M.

Got friends in Inverbervie so could combine the run south of Aberdeen with a visit to see them.

The cars been laid up over the winter for various reason (key snapping in the ingnition being one of them), so the old girl could do with stretching the legs...

It all depends what I've got planned over the kids school holidays, or should I say what the boss has got planned for me over the school holidays.

Just checked google maps.... ah, I see your point, I don't remember Monifieth being that far south.... have they moved it or something[:D]

Yes, used to much further north but it was annexed by the Dundonians [:D]

Hi Keiron.
Nice to see you on here. Maybe see you about the Ellon area at some point.
Working through some niggles with my Boxster these days. Not had it long but do love it. Get the impression that some of the previous owners were better at looking after it than others. The joys of motoring. Its in the garage on tuesday to see to an intermittent engine fault that has thrown up the check engine light again although its still running albeit idling a little fast. Probably a sensor gone wrong. Too much electronics !! Got to keep remembering its 12 years old now. Fixed a twisted seatbelt this morning that made it slow to retract so happy thats better.

Graeme.

I'm just down at Newburgh Graeme so pop in to Ellon a couple of times a week.

Which garage do you use? Do you take it to Porsche in Aberdeen or somewhere else. The other obvious choice is Bavaria Autowerke in Aberdeen but I don't know how good bad or indifferent they are? It's something that I need to sort out shortly.

Since the cars been laid up over the winter and I'm not sure how well the previous owner(s) have looked after it (certainly looks in good shape to the untrained eye), I want to get it checked out mechanically & serviced since I will start driving it in April.

So, can anyone in the Aberdeen area recommend where a 30 year old German Burd can get a good seeing too!!! [:D]

Boxster now running nice again. Mass Air flow sensor replaced. Seems to be a common problem in a lot of cars. This isn't the first one of these we have replaced - changed these type of things in a couple of other cars in the past. The local garage near the house changed it for us after hooking up to the computer and downloading the fault code. Got one sent out from Aberdeen and we are back on the road now. [:D]
