Hi all, pointed this way from my regular perch over on Piston Heads as I have just became the proud owner of 1984 944. She has been purchased as a project for my son to be honest, the last owner has piled a lot of work into the car over the past year and it is now some way to being track ready. To date the following has been done

Roll cage with harness bar.
Drilled and grooved front brakes, greenstuff pads all round
braided brake lines
fuel and brake lines run internally
uprated fuel pump
new fuel pump relay
fly-off handbrake
falken ziex tyres
quickshift induction kit
omp steering wheel
race mirrors
FULL Rothmans replica vinyl wrap
lightweight fixed back bucket seats with porsche and rothmans logos
TRS 6-point harnesses
Polycarb windows with sliders
carbon fibre footwell plates inc alloy footplates for passenger side
new alternator
new battery
custom straight through exhaust with mk2 x-flow rally back box
flip switch and push start ignition system
Waterless coolant

Not a full list by any means and the car was fully stripped and welded prior to starting the work and all appears to be very well done. Will only allow me one pic here though.

This will be a long term project, first out is suspension and would appreciate any advice on this. Also looking for insurance, any pointers again appreciated. Will keep updated on here with progress

If you fancy spending the value of the car again then KW Clubsport are very good indeed! Simon's suggestion of Gaz Golds from EMC or similar is a great one though.
 
Thanks guys. Budget is around 1500 for the suspension, how much would I expect to pay for the KW clubsport and what are the advantages over GAZ
 
KW dont make dampers for series one cars, so theyre not really in contention. Series two / MY'86> only.
 
To answer your question, KW dampers incorporate a bypass valve which reduces the crashing usually associated with firm dampers on poor roads. Good for a dual purpose car which is biased towards road driving, but hardly the second coming that some people would try to convince you that they are. Id suggest calling Kevin or Alex Eacock at EMC and seeing how much theyd charge to supply a set of GAZ dampers to their specification and fit them. Id also ask Alex to prepare your body for easy torsion tube adjustment (giving a hole similar to that seen on old 911s). This may make the set up and re-indexing cheaper too, as he wont need to remove the transaxle and torsion bar carrier.
 
Gaz Gold is about 1500 fitted by EMC with geo and corner weighting included. Top value for money.
 
Gaz gold fitted sounds good, need to get the car down to EMC and back though so that ail add a bit extra to the budget, suspect it may be taking a few trips there this year :)
 
EMC are great, really know there stuff and are reasonable priced, but at the moment are working flat out on their Pumas.
