Hello all. Just joined club/forum on advice from a pal. Long time Porsche 911 lover, first time buyer.
Am awaiting delivery of a new c4s due March (was supposed to be April but I guess the salesman has targets
to hit as he seems to think it will be here early!)

Anyway, having happily spent lots of time choosing spec/colour/wheels/options etc I'm like a kid at Christmas
time!

Looking forward to attending a lot of PCGB events/day runs this year and would love any suggestions on the
best one day drives to take it on when it eventually gets here. Am also planning a few weekends away just me
and the missus, so again any suggestions on great drives with a good hotel/food/relaxation at the end would
be great. I have two young boys, and it looks like Porsche in the Glen looks like a good day out for the family?

I also got an invite through from Porsche to Silverstone for a the 'Porsche experience'. anyone done this and is
it a good day out/worth travelling down for?

Look forward to meeting you all soon,
Gordon

Welcome to the club ...your new car sounds very nice .Best to make contact with Scott our RO if you are in Region 1 if you recently joined he will no doubt be in touch with you, that way he will keep you up to date on what is going on in the region, pop along to one of our club nights no need to be in a Porsche . As the co organizer for PITG i would love to see you attending this event, a bit away at present and know doubt you will be going to others organized . Brian

Hi Gordon and welcome to the Club and the forum! You didn't say where in Scotland you are - we have 2 Regions, North & South - I'm Regional Organiser for North (Region 2) and Scott Laurie is the RO for South (R1). Whichever it is, we'll put you on the appropriate email distribution so you'll get news of all the Regional events direct to your inbox. Porsches in the Glen sounds ideal for you, and later in the year there's the joint R1/R2 concours meet at Blair Castle, Blairgowrie - as well as many other events. If you can make it along to any of the region meetings you'll get no end of suggestions for drives - Scott has meetings in Edinburgh & Glasgow and Region 2 have meetings in Aberdeen and Monifieth, near Dundee - so there should be something not too far away. Enjoy your car when it gets to you, I'm sure you will!

Hi Gordon, your new car sounds great. As has been mentioned, your are welcome along at any of our monthly meetings. We have our east area meeting on Thursday 30th Jan at the Dakota Hotel, South Queensferry. If this is handy for you it would be good to see you there. Approx 7.30/8.00. Silverstone experience is well worth it. A few of us in the club have to arrange our visits there having also received this from our OPCs.

Thanks for the prompt responses! I'm based in Bothwell, just outside Glasgow. PITG and Blairgowrie sound great, really looking forward to coming along. I won't manage along to tomorrow's meet as I'm gearing up at work for holiday, but will definitely come along to a meet once back. Glad to hear the Silverstone experience sounds worthwhile, I'm planning to book this late Feb before getting the car. I've always been a huge fan of 911's and have eventually bitten the bullet to get one. Initially was planning on it as my main car, but after a weekend trial realised it wasn't realistic for family/dog - and have to say I'm really looking forward to using it as a pure toy/just for driving pleasure. Will keep the family wagon for the0 family runs! I'm not a big track day guy, but do love a nice drive on a twisty road and doing it in the 911 was amazing. I'd read motoring articles for years about how the driving experience was sublime, but after a weekend in one I was hooked. I've had fast BM's/Audi's/Merc's in the past - but none of them came close to the experience of the 911. I opted for the sports design package and was really torn between black and guards red, but eventually decided black was more difficult to maintain, and as the car is purely for fun thought red was a the way to go. I added the black glass sunroof/black light inserts and have the dealership painting the wheels gloss black. Went for PDK (again after much debate as I love rowing), but the PDK was really good, and black leather interior with red stitching. Also added sports exhaust (fell in love with this instantly...) Sorry for the ramble, just delighted to have found a forum where people have an interest in 911's! My wife is hoping I'll stop bending her ear on the subject now.... Anyway - thanks for again for the response and looking forward to meeting you all. Cheers

Should have gone RED [;)][;)] sounds lovely spec . We have couple of owners in Bothwell who you will know doubt meet at some point .Meet at Sherbrooke Hotel Pollockshields the first Tuesday of each month around 8 pm so pop along . Brian

I did in the end, guards red/black detailing! See you in March Brian, thanks.[;)]

Anyway - thanks for again for the response and looking forward to meeting you all. Cheers I'm afraid you wife has only just started hearing about it. Soon you'll be able to tell her about all the people you have met and all the runs and places you've been to with the club. Then you'll have endless discussions on which up grades to get and the fact that the boys got you to go to a track day and now your hooked and can't decide which track tyres to buy. Enjoy and we'll see you at the Sherbrooke

Hi guys , I'd just like to say that Gordon is a friend of mine and thank you all for welcoming him so warmly to the club. Gordon there is no better place to rant/chat/ramble/enthuse about all things 911 than here in the club. Great to see you on board . Look forward to catching up soon for another self indulgent chat about all things 911 !! It would be great to see you along at your first event . Hope the family are all keeping well . Kind regards Barry Ps : great local(ish)road for a blast - strathaven>muirkirk. Quiet , mainly fast but has a mix of everything !

Gordon welcome and a great choice. The silverstone experience, I lived in Ashford Kent when i took delivery of my 911 so did not have so far to travel. From anywhere in the UK it is worth the drive and overnight etc etc. I arrived there with an open mind of a corporte thank you, but left after a morning of pure enjoyment and fullfillment and oh how I appreciate my 911 more now, one memory which sticks so vividly in my mind and is appropriate for yourself is the four wheel drive on the low friction surface. The instructor leant across switched off the traction control and asked me if I thought I could spin a 911 Turbo S . I replied who cant , he smiled and said try . after numerous attempts at full lock and pumping 530 bhp on and off on the throttle it did not spin. One of the joys you will recieve in understanding how your new C4 S performs. it was the best 4 hours Ihave spent in a car ever understanding the capabilities of your new pride and joy. Oh and the bonus is it is there car which you are treating like a race car around the track and spinning sideways off the kick plate. Gordon when the time comes enjoy the experience as it is aptly named Hamish

Guys, really appreciate the warm welcome and feedback. Looking forward to meeting you all at either the Sherbrooke or a meet. I'm out of the country in Feb a bit so will manage along to first meet in late Feb/early March. Hamish, I'm going to try fit in the silverston experience before the car comes, so will let you know how I get on. Barry, thanks for the suggestion on the road - sounds just what I'm looking for. Also looking forward to getting down to the Delveen pass, Glencoe (early morning when quiet), A7 towards Carlisle and of course the A832 Achnasheen road. My eldest saw your eldest at school this week, is she joining soon? Hope the family all doing well. You guys up to anything Feb break? Colin, I guess you are correct about my wife needing to be prepared for more ear bending on porsche related chat, she just passed the room and commented, 'I take it you are on the porsche site again....' and gave me a withering look! Was just checking out the restoration photos on another post, if any of you have tome would love to see pics of all the Porsches you guys have (past and present), along with any chat you have on your car/s, what you liked, preferences and general comments. Thanks again for the warm welcome and feedback, greatly appreciated!

Gordon, good to hear you are from Bothwell. I will look forward to seeing the car about the village, Porsche, its a disease! No doubt see you about if you are friendly with Barry. Cheers Tom

Gordon , Your good lady will appreciate your porsche, Arlene my wife was never a fan of the style etc etc and I guess for many years I almost maybe veered away from the make for that reason , we had Audi's , SL Merc's and our second XK was the 503bhp XKR , which she loved. One day like a fairy story I stopped in Tonbridge and test drove a 997 Turbo S, Arlene was warming to the styling at this stage. on returning to the garage with lockjaw she could tell I was impressed , she asked what was it like , I said it was like your Audi TT but on severe steroids. After delivery and on my return to work the day came when she was to drive it , later that day on Skype I was informed that it "is so easy to drive and why did you not buy one years ago" so beware your wife will im sure have the Porsche website listed on her favourite on her Ipad , long before you know it . hee hee hee hee [:)][:)][:)][:)][:)].
