Newly appointed Register Secretary

I am pleased to let you know that I have taken over the role of 992 Register Secretary from Phil Graham. He is a busy man and I am delighted to be able to continue to take the register forward.

So a quick introduction from myself.
After a career in the Royal Navy (Fleet Air Arm) as an avionics engineer and diver, serving on several ships and naval air stations, I concluded my career in IT and technical services in two northern universities.

My wife and I joined PCGB in 1990 with a beautiful 944 Lux which I absolutely adored in the six years that I owned it. From there I have owned no less than six 911’s in various guises, latterly a Cayman 981, culminating in my current 992 Carrera 2S. Without doubt this car is awesome.

My Club background:
In some form or another I have been an official of the club since I joined all those years ago.
Together with my wife we set up two new Regions, Dorset & Somerset (R26) in 1990 and the Lancashire & Cumbria (R18) in 1994. Overall I was a Regional Organiser for over 13 years in total.

During my ownership of a 911SC I served as the 911SC Register Secretary for a short period in the early 2000’s.

Spending nine years on the board of directors over two periods was a fantastically rewarding experience being able to give so much to the club, culminating in the honour of being your Chairman (2014-2016).

In 1998 I was privileged to be awarded Honorary Membership and my wife received hers in 2014. I was also delighted to receive the club's Lifetime Achievement Award in 2016.

I have been the club's Forum Admin for the last 18 years, so you could say I have PCGB flowing through my veins!!

I live in sunny Lancashire and I understand that in the future there may well be a southern area 992RS.

This is our register and to make it the success that we all want then it cannot be done by me alone. With that in mind I would like to form a small group of enthusiasts who are willing to assist me with technical, newsletters, media and events. We can get together using Zoom or other means on a regular basis.

I am looking forward to the challenge and with your help and assistance we can really look forward to enjoying our Porsche’s in 2021. Covid 19 permitting of course!

For an informal and friendly chat please contact me via: 992@porscheclubgb.com

Congratulations Peter, it sounds like a great appointment for us all, lets hope during Q2/2021 we can start to get out and meet up again as a club, region and register.

My roots stem from many years in the MG world, as a dealer, racer and enthusiast. Currently on the MG Midland Committee and look after their website, eNewsletters and help with events. In addition, however as a Porsche owner for the past 16 years I am quite passionate about my current 992 and Macan so look forward to joining in with the 992 group and who knows, may sometimes try to help.

Regards David Wood

Congratulations Peter, I'm a newbie here but look forward to future meets and events post Covid. [:)]

Congrats Peter. Glad you made it through the rigorous appointment process so quickly...

Well, within a few months anyway.

Am sure you will excel in the role. All the best.

Congratulations Peter. [:)]

Perhaps someone can tell us exactly what "the rigorous appointment process" was please?

I would have hoped for someone with a bit more experience in PCGB:ROFLMAO:

If you need any tips on running a Register Clive and me are right here...[:D]

Nice one Peter, enjoy.

Congratulations on your appointment Peter, who knows I might even be back in the 992 Register at some point in the future.

Best wishes,

Martin

Congratulations Peter, I have had my 992 for almost 20 months now and love the car.

You certainly bring a lot of experience to the register.

Shirly they could have found someone else? :) :)

Congratulations Peter. I have every confidence you will greatly add to the enjoyment of ownership of a 992 for a great many members current and to come. Great time to take over as we enter the new decade (let's just pretend 2020 didn't happen).

Congratulations Peter. You, more than most, know that a successful RS takes a fair amount of effort, so thanks for taking the task on. And also on getting your 992!

If I knew, Clive, I would happily tell you! Perhaps Peter can clarify - although it might be like Mission Impossible where the information self destructs once read.

I had applied for the role in July, but because I had rejected my previous 992 a few weeks earlier and 'only' had an order in for a new one, it caused, shall we say, 'difficulties'.

I did raise the point that when I was on the board we had appointed RSs who could show they had an order in for a new car, but sadly that’s not the case now as I was informed "....... that was then and not now........."

Happily my car arrived in November and after more emails (from me) and phone calls the appointment was eventually made.

Now you can self-destruct this message!
