Next Project

Hi SCers

I sold my car this weekend as I want to start a new project. My problem is that I really like working on the cars and I had already spent far to much on my SC Targa. I thought about the Porsche I would like to own and high on the list is a 2.7 RS of course but cannot afford a real one so should I build a clone?
But what I think I really would like to build, I think is a 3.0 SC RS I think only about 20 of these where made and you can find a little on the web about them. Essentially they are from 84 and use a stock 3.0 litre SC engine with changes and suspension changes, I think they where the forerunner to the 959 rally car. What do you all think about clone cars or am I wasting my money?

It's the same old problem, you'll never re-coop the money you put into it!

A well built mint 2.7 RS replica might be worth 25K-30K but it'll cost you probably
40K+ to build it including a decent SC or similar to start with.

You'd have to really enjoy the project & want to keep it if it's gonna make any
sense in my humble opinion.[8|]

Or you could buy one like this:

Let somone else loose a fortune building it![;)]

Not worried about spending the cash just want a different Porker to drive than a 993 (nothing wrong with 993 just an example)

buy an 'early S' ... very fun to drive & not too many about [:D]

Yeah, they're cheap [8|] [8D]

Build the SC RS rep - that would be wicked

If you are serious, the engine is an MFI 3 litre, not just a standard SC lump. IIRC, 260hp with S cams (maybe even wilder) and early style rally exhaust. Wicked car. Maybe tarmac rally spec relica? It would make a great track car - and very interesting as well. Definitely not run of the mill.
