However, you are lucky in being instriking distance of Sussex, Kent, Surrey, Thames Valley, and at least one of the London Regions.
Why not try some or all - I go to most of these most months and they all have different styles and ways of doing things. One or two might meet your "needs" better than the others. If you like them all - great!
Sussex is the 1st Tuesday of the month, Surrey and Hampshire are 2nd Tuesday. London (south), and Kent are 2nd Wednesday. Thames Valley is 1st Sunday (lunchtime).

Here's what JJ posted a while ago... The pub is in the centre of Ardingly Village, Street Lane, RH17 6UA for Navigation gizmos. It has its own car park at the rear, and there is an off-road public car park opposite. They serve good food and for the connoisseurs, Real Ale.
Look forward to seeing you, Phil

Do you know of anywhere good for a gathering of cars (either decent pub or beach-side) that could take about 20 cars on a Sunday afternoon near Emsworth? Looking for a finishing point for a ride I have planned in the summer.

not sure, but have a look at Mark Bennetts post (further up this thread) to see if you're settings are correct.

I live in West Marden (about 10 miles south of Midhurst) and go to the Sussex meetings. From home it is about 53 miles, but a good drive - particularly on the way home when the roads are empty.

There is a nice pub at Chidham-The Old House At Home with a reasonable car park. The Crab and Oyster at Sidlesham and The Crown and Anchor at Dell Quay, but the parking is not so dedicated, may have to park on side of road-verge etc.
I think The Royal Oak at Langstone Harbour has a reasonable car park and a good view of the harbour.
Although not close to Emsworth there is the Fox and Hounds in Funtington which has a good car park opposite or the Barley Mow in Walderton has a similar size car park.
Again ,further away The Three Horseshoes at Elstead(close to South Harting)good for parking and a cracking garden with views of the downs.
Lastly,at the western tip of Hayling Island, there is lots of parking, beachy bits, pub and possibly a cafe(where the ferry goes to Eastney)-I think pistonheads do a run here in the summer as well.I will go and look around over the next few weeks and see if I can find some others.
Yesterday,as you say, was very wet-roll on long summer days.
