nice looking Black 944 Cup Car for sale

Battery in the bulkhead surprises me, and the dump valve is definitely not working. Wheels look odd offset for an early car

Curiosity has got the better of me. How can you tell the dump valve is not working? Have I just fallen for a tongue-in-cheek line?
Cheers

1987 CUP cars should have magnesium phone dials. Car's wheels are not the correct ones. Also engine's intake manifold is from normal 951 because it is not magnesium. Hood's safety pins are not correct and hood does not have the pressing for them. Also ABS switch and that red handle are located into false locations. Most likely this is a "wanna-be-cup-car"

The dealer has sent me the build sheet with VIN etc.

220 LSD
462 Sekuriflex Screen
593 ABS
754 Turbo Cup car

It's for sale at £35k but then you have Tax 10%, Vat 20%, Import a Fees and Shipping Costs

Is the VIN showing as a Cup Car, engine Number Cup Car ??

Got an image of the VIN bulkhead stamping (ie is it Original)

History??

The incorrect details and glaring errors make me wonder if its a wannabe / bitsa or a genuine car thats been through the mill and emerged like this.

I also got the same information as Martin did. There are several details which will drop cars price. At least wheels are not original. Also engine might be wrong, at least it has "normal" intake. Does it still have original magnesium cover transaxle? etc.etc. ABS came into 1987 CUP cars, like magnesium Phone dials as well. Since it was imported to Japan it does not have any CUP racing status, i value more these examples which has been raced in european CUP or Canadian Escort series.

Did Cup cars have ABS ?

Yes, with an override switch mounted on a panel where the cubby is. This car appears to have lost most of its unique parts, which is a shame as theyre virtually irreplaceable.
